A statement has been issued on behalf of Cairo:

Regrettably, as some of you who attended our U.K. gigs will be aware, vocalist Rachel Hill left the band a few months ago due to health issues.
The band want to thank her for her hard work, professionalism and dedication whilst in the band and want to wish her good health, much happiness and every success in the future.

The band is, however, pleased to be able to announce that Lisa Driscoll, who kindly stood in on a temporary basis during the debut album gigs in November 2016, has become a permanent member of Cairo with immediate effect.

In a statement, Lisa said: “I am absolutely over the moon to have been asked to join Cairo. When I stood in for the three gigs in November I knew I’d enjoy it, but didn’t realise just how much until it all came to an end – that’s when I knew I wanted the role permanently. I am so excited, words just can’t express how much.

Each member of the band made me feel so welcome and the support they showed me throughout was more than I could have ever asked for. All of the feedback from supporters and social media has been amazing and I can’t thank everyone enough.

I love the culture of Cairo and cannot wait to get out there in 2017 and hit that stage. It’s an absolute honour to be part of something so special with such talented individuals.

I have to say a huge thank you to Rob, Paul, Graham and James for believing in me and giving me this opportunity.

I feel that this is the start of something huge and I’m elated to be finally fulfilling my dream of singing and performing. See you all in 2017.”

Cairo founder, Rob Cottingham stated:
“We are absolutely delighted that Lisa has agreed to hop aboard the good ship Cairo and join our motley crew. Not only is she talented, as well as beautiful, she also did a brilliant job at very short notice in November standing in on vocals.

She has a tremendous personality, as well as great potential to grow as a significant vocalist and tour de force, not just within the prog world – but outside of it, too. Lisa fitted into the band superbly well when we were touring, and to say that the band were in hysterics at times would be an understatement. Furthermore, as some industry figures know, part of the philosophy of this band was to encourage and support the development of new, young talent into the band and into the rock world, and Lisa fits the bill perfectly. We have all got to know each other really well before, during and after the tour and we wish Lisa all the luck in the world in her new role in Cairo.”

Rob, Lisa, James, Paul and Graham are looking forward to hitting the circuit, and more announcements will follow soon about gigs booked in 2017.
