I'm sure that most of us have picked up an album or a CD because we thought that the cover looked cool, or saw who was playing on it and expected to find some rare treasure, only to get it home and listen to it and say to ourselves, damn, that sucked! I just wasted my money and my time!
Here are a few that pop into my mind:
Manzanera / Wetton
GTR
Colin Scott
How could such phenomenal players make such awful records?

I do not think that Manzanara/Wetton or GTR could be called awful, my opinion only. I try to stay away from extremes like wonderful or awful. They were good albums played by people who have produced better work. Simply because it does not measure up to previous work does not make it bad. Also I do not consider these albums to be purely progressive. It's what Nick and I used to call progressive pop, along with groups like Supertramp, Rocket Scientists and Asia. Just my opinion.
