A really great singer, though far too often overlooked, is the guy I am listening to now.. Lino Vairetti of Osanna. Italian prog singers deserve far more love than they usually get.

That said, my favourite singer is probably Glenn Hughes (of Deep Purple and Trapeze fame). Other favourites of mine are Dio, Ian Gillan, Rob Halford and Bruce Dickinson. I am not a big fan of Jon Anderson, though I believe his voice is perfect for Yes, and prefer Peter Gabriel as a solo artist rather than as a vocalist with Genesis.

i adore femail singers i rock, like Tarja Turunen. as i remember, the only femail singer in prog-rock band is Kyree from HALF PAST FOUR- she's amazing also.

3. Claire Torry, Sam Brown, Durga McBroom, Rachel Fury, Magaret Taylor, Claudia Fontaine, Carol Kenyon, Michelle Carol; Because they all did the "Great Gig In The Sky" / Pink Floyd.
4. Rosita Reitsman (Amberlinn (tip)), Evelien van Kampen (Illumion (tip)), Charlotte Wessels (Delain), Sharon den Adel, Amy Lee, Floor Janssen, Simone Simons, Anneke van Griesbergen, Astrid van Veen (Ambeon), the sisters Kleman, Jerney Kaagman (mmm in the past ;-); Because they're all Dutch, gifted with an golden voice and nice to watch.
5. Tori Amos, Joanna Hogg (Iona), Suzanna Melvoin (Prince, Roger Waters and... ), Sheryl Crow, Heather Nova, Sarah McLachlan, Loreeena McKennith, Lana Lane, Silje Wergeland (the Gathering), Tarja Turunen, Marcella Bovia (Stream of Passion), Emilia Derkowska (ex-Quidam), Trude Eidtang (White Willow), Julianne Regan, Carly Simon because they're really good looking and have made nice music...
6. Nico, Janis Joplin, Billy Holiday, Kirsty MacColl, Linda McCartney, Cassie Canes, Sandy Denny and all i've forgotten; because they were great, hope their music sound forever.

i guess Tarja Turunen is not prog- it's classic rock, she's amazing. and Kyree& HALFPASTFOUR is very talented- and this is prog
