The bands listed below are the ones I personally feel have transcended the cliched boundaries so often associated with the term "progressive rock" and have earned the title "Progressive Rock Supergroup".

Comment by Melodic Revolution Records on November 13, 2009 at 11:36pm: Point well taken and you make a valid argument. That said I believe everyone will have their own interpretation of what makes a super group, just as many will argue the definition of what really is progressive music.

The purpose of this group is to educate many that are unaware of past achievements and to promote the many wonderful bands that seem to have been pushed aside due to fame in the bigger picture. Also another note some super groups were nowhere near as successful as the bands the hailed from and some were even a flop.

Almost every successful musician had other (less successful) bands beforehand. Should we really call ELP a supergroup, for instance?
Just wondering where we draw the line of definition.
