It's has been a while since a newsletter edition from us and we are now back with news & updates about the band.

Technical update

Due to paramount size of technical & logistic difficulties, 8 will not use its signature purple drumkit yet for live performance outside Java & other countries. Nevertheless we will rock the stage at the same energy as we normally do with the purple drumkit.

For those who are wondering, where on earth is 8 lately, we are here to let you know that the band is still running and we are waiting patiently to overcome off-band problems.
Some of the problems are pretty "life-threatening" to the band but we are determine not to give up or give in.
We will start to move again sometime after august, wether producing new music or live performances. Until then, please keep on bug us on how are we doing and how's our music.

The music of 8 is based on Jazz as the spirit and mindset which then translated into progressive music. 8 emphasized their music in improvisation and live performance. The band formation also strongly influenced by Jazz quartet.
The group was formed by Wildstix in mid 2003 who initiated to form a new music group that able to create pure pieces without following other known music genres. Although experienced personnel changes several times, 8 managed to release the first album, “Windig Notes”, under the brand of 'Academie of FarSide' in December 2004.
8 (back then known as AOFS) performed their music for the first time in June 2005 at Jakarta Bercahaya Indie Music Festival and later performed in various occasions such as Prog Nite, Rhythm Salad and Ngayogjazz. In December 2006 8, under the brand Academie of FarSide released the second album, “BRADAKOOM!!!”
In in 2008, AOFS had another major changes as the three of the personnel parted ways from the band. Soon new personnel and new spirit replaced the loss and after many thoughts from the band closest and strongest supporters, it was decided that the brand 'Academie of FarSide' will be perfected.
In 2009 it became 8.
