"Glad to know your band. A pretty interesting blend of influences and sounds. Still have to go through a couple othe tracks you've proposed. I guess it might be rare to play this type of music in Peru ! All the best from France. Marc"

Profile Information

I am the following; a
Fan of Music, Writer/Reviewer
Style of Prog
Art Rock, Neo-Prog, Progressive Folk, Progressive Rock, Psychedelic Rock, Symphonic Rock, New Prog, Progressive Metal, Progressive Jazz/Fusion, Progressive Electronic, Also a fan of other genres of music
Biography
I started to listen seriously to music around 10 or 11, with an album of a band that some consider as a major progressive rock band, not even knowing the expression nor that it could be so important at the time. The album was "Wish You Were Here" and the band was Pink Floyd. I was lucky to discover Genesis, Yes, and Jethro Tull all by myself a few years later circa 1982 by reading reviews and articles in music magazines... I had also discovered Queen and Led Zeppelin (as well as Kiss ! those were my teenage years !). Those bands which are so different one from each other are still my top favourite to this day (maybe except Kiss, even if I still follow what they do) . I just added many many new great bands over the years, learned to appreciate more and more of classical music and Ancient music, heavy metal, jazz rock. I loved some 80's so-called "neoprog" bands, like Marillion and IQ and I like many different artists in different genres, from seventies prog rock and certain hard rock bands (I like everything related to Ritchie Blackmore for instance, from Rainbow to Blackmore's Night and Deep Purple) to Marillion, IQ, Pendragon, Pallas, modern progressive rock metal, folk music, classical music, the artists privileging the synths like Tangerine Dream.. I love artists who cannot be pigeon-holed easily, like the ones mentioned above but so many others from Mike Oldfield to Kate Bush and Tori Amos ! I also love some guitar virtuosos coming more or less from the metal scenes who developped instrumental music since the late 80's.

I started writing reviews and doing interviews of musicians in 1993, in a music fanzine that lasted only 4 years called Tangentes. Since 2001, I've been writing a lot for the French quarterly paper fanzine Koid'9 and since 2007 on the music webzine www.musicwaves.fr under the very original pseudo of "Marc M" ;o)
Influences or Favorite Bands
Pink Floyd, Yes, Jethro Tull, Queen, Led Zeppelin, Genesis, Iona, Shadow Gallery, Kansas, Phideaux, Renaissance, IQ, Gandalf (the Austrian multi-instrumentalist not the death metal band !), Camel, Marillion, Pendragon, Uriah Heep, Rush, Tangerine Dream, Arjen Anthony Lucassen (Ayreon) in all his projects, Damian Wilson, Threshold, Vangelis, Klaus Schulze, Rainbow, Blackmore's Night, Dio, Saga, Porcupine Tree, Blue Oyster Cult, Wishbone Ash, Glass Hammer, Dream Theater, Tori Amos, Loreena MacKennitt, Vinnie Moore, Tony McAlpine, Marty Friedman, Steve Morse, Yngwie Malmsteen, Joe Satriani, classical music (JS Bach, Chopin, Saint-Saens, Beethoven, Franck, Fauré, Bruckner, etc.), a little bit of jazz rock with Allan Holdsworth, Al DiMeola and Frank Gambale. Some "electro pop" like The Buggles and Alphaville, Ultravox - and I like even more Midge Ure's solo works. Tori Amos, Kate Bush, and so many others.
