==History==
In 1979, Quasar was formed with Keith Turner and Mike Kenwright writing songs in the Progressive Rock style. They soon found Steve Clarke, John Clark and Geoff Banks and so the band began. It didn't take long for the potential of the musicians to be realised, as John Clark left to join Bill Bruford's Band Earthworks, Steve Clarke left to tour with Billy Cobham and Mike Kenwright left to join another band.

Quasar was soon joined by Cyrus Khajavi on guitar, on keyboard, Paul Vigrass as vocalist, Peter Ware on keyboards, Peter Shade on vibes and keyboards and Steen Doosing on drums. Keith Turner handled the bass, Moog Taurus and twelve string guitar.

In 1981, released their debut album Fire in the Sky. After a short burst of live shows Paul Vigrass, Steen Doosing, Peter Shade and Peter Ware left the band to be replaced by Susan Robinson, who has just left Solstice, David Cairns on drums and Dillon Tonkin on keyboards. This stable line-up did hundreds of shows over the next few years culminating in headliners at the Marquee Club in the same months as their contemporaries, Marillion, Pendragon, IQ, Twelfth Night, Solstice and Pallas.

In 1985, David Cairns and Cyrus Khajavi were replaced by Dave Wagstaffe and Kevin Fitzgerald, and they recorded a track for the EMI compilation album "Fire in Harmony" which reached number 49 in the Kerrang! rock album charts.
Sadly the strain of living on the road took it's toll and some members had to be replaced again. The new members were Tracy Hitchins on vocals, Steve Leigh on keyboards and Uwe D'Rose on guitar.

The new album The Loreli was started, but during recording, Steve Leigh and Uwe D'Rose left, to be replaced by Toshi Tsuchiya with guitar and Midi guitar for keyboards.

The Loreli was completed and released in 1989 and this took the band further to perform in Europe as well as the UK. Despite this, several members left to form Landmarq and pursue solo careers.

Quasar lay quiet for some years until in 2006 founding member Keith Turner reformed Quasar with new members Paul Johnson (drums), Robert Robinson (vocals/keyboards), Keren Gaiser (vocals/Keyboards) and Greg Studley (guitars) and a new album is expected in the near future.

Enigma...a new one.

This week has definitely been busy for Quasar.  We've been rehearsing Enigma, a new song mostly in 7/8 time, and the song has the sound of the title - an Enigma.  Not to mention how much Robert's lyrics fit the scene.  A few sections were our focus for this week, and the song is certainly in it's "morph" phase - this always happens when we all start to play the song as a band....the song becomes something new, based off the original ideas.  We are still programming lights and lasers for the…See More

Full Show and New Material

Tuesday's rehearsal was a productive one.  After rehearsing the entire show (which is quite the endurance test) we began playing one of the new songs for our latest album.  These songs are all composed collectively, rehearsed independently, and then rehearsed together.  Each run-through seemed to be more complete than the previous.  We are in the process of booking a northern California gig in October, and will have the details soon. Be sure to follow this Blog to keep track of all that Quasar…See More

Power in Your Hands being mixed.

We have received the first mixed track for our new album.  Power in Your Hands was taken from a great live performance, and the mixing of the song has turned out great.  We will still have to tweak a few aspects of the track, but it is sure great to hear what this music sounds like from the crowd's point of view.  The dynamics are really defined, and the intensity at the end it really something special.  As more and more is mixed, we should have some clips posted on the website. Keep track of…See More

Thanks Keith, will you be gigging in the north when you come over?.

Hi Keith, getting a band together is slow work in Preston, there are plenty of oily spotty kids in to Green day or metalica which isn't much use, I need to find some cool old gits from somewhere and get the cobwebs blown off their instruments, it's my only hope.

Please send sunshine, I'm forgetting what it looks like.
