For the vinyl junkies and audiophiles there is nothing like music spinning on a turntable. The sound is bigger & better and the artwork, well see for yourself.

Biography
Hi, my name is Sacha Baptista.

I was born in Switzerland in 1988. I started playing the guitar in 2003 and I have been creating my own music since 2004.

About me :

At first my music was based on hard rock / heavy metal influences and the more I learnt how music worked the more I turned myself to jazz, blues and Indian music (Anoushka Shankar). I have to admit that I didn't enjoy the first jazz concert I saw, but the interest came very quickly, at first with Jeff Beck and then with Pat Metheny.

After that Jazz period I discovered prog rock through Mike Oldfield and Genesis. I really loved their long instrumental pieces built around lots of different moods, and feelings. It was natural for me to turn myself to that kind of music. What I liked the most about it was that, closing my eyes, I could see the story it was telling, and most importantly, with no lyrics.

After spending a few years listening to Jeff Beck, Pat Metheny, Genesis and Mike Oldfield, then I discovered the band that was going to be my influence : King Crimson ! King Crimson... What a band... I can't spend a day without listening to them. What I love the most is their ability to create such strange songs and their very interesting music technic.

To conclude, I would say that what interests me in music is research and the capacity of telling a story only with sounds. Therefore I also have an interest in creating soundtrack music as I really appreciate Dany Elfman's work in Tim Burton movies.

About my music:

The first song I have ever recorded was Non. For that one, I had a completely different creative approach as it was actually an exercise. The guitar teacher I had at that time asked me to compose a song and when it was finished, I would record it as an exercise in his home-studio. I liked it and I decided it would be the very first song on my MySpace.

At that time, I was still into heavy metal bands like Tesla, Dokken, Queensryche, etc.

That aside, I have always appreciated classical and acoustic music too, which you can hear in Air, my second song. Then, mixing of classical and "prog" I wrote Tomorrow Never Came, which is very different from the first two. I had a complete different approach and my interests went elsewhere. More prog than classical after that, I wrote Inferno's Stairs.

Afterward I began my sound engineering studies which got me into ProTools and allowed me to create a home-studio. I started working a lot on that software and really like it as it is very easy to use. Then I was able to record my songs by myself so I started looking for something else. I started creating longer songs with more technical parts, more instruments and more mood. To put it simply, let's say it got more progressive and more experimental. From then I composed and recorded The Rise Of Vanquished Warriors, The Endless Chase, Restless Spirits Of Yesteryear and The Echo Of Maddening Sanity.

You have to remember that I am not in a band, I work solo. Almost all the songs are composed, played, recorded and mixed by myself. All the information about that is on the "Members" area of the page
