Influences or Favorite Bands: hmmmmmmmmmmmm......
a tough question, truth is so many bands and artists have made an impression on me over the years it would be impossible to list them all.
but a non-definative list of favourites would have to include the following:

The Church, VDGG, Spirit, Bevis Frond, Swans, Amon Duul II, Can, Big Star, Fuchsia, PFM, Black Widow,
The Only Ones, My Dying Bride, Zappa, Be-Bop Deluxe.
plus all the standard stuff that gets listed by all prog fans...so no point in writing 'em out again here!
in short, anything that pushes music forward.

however......i'm NEVER impressed by pointless techno-flash....if the music has no true emotional heart at it's core....it just leaves me cold.
but....as a general rule, if it's got fuzz guitars and mellotron....i'm hooked!

You are so right. I sent some e-mails out from my website yesterday more or less saying the same thing. The people who really appreciate prog should indeed stick together. There's safety in numbers old boy! I recently attended a Heather Small gig at Newcastle city Hall and was berated for my beliefs afterwards. Little did my partner know that her keyboard player was one of the best prog keyboard players in the country and it was the only reason that i went. It's good to talk to like minded people.
