Power of Prog

Happy Easter Everyone! Some time ago Nick Katona sent out a “feeler” to bands. He was interested in getting an Emerson, Lake & Palmer tribute CD going and we jumped at the opportunity. As everyone knows, we love 70’s progressive rock and ELP is no exception. Since we presently do not have a keyboard player, although we are looking at this time, it was simply down to two possible songs to do - “Still You Turn Me On” or “From the Beginning”. We chose the latter. The song was a natural for us, as I am presently singing, playing guitar and bass guitar in Unified Past - just like Greg Lake did in ELP. Victor and I were so inspired during this session, we busted it out in about two days. Everything just flowed so well. Producer Frank Tassone got the absolute most out of the performance and managed to give this song the sonic perception we envisioned. We stay true to the original for the verses and chorus and then give the second half of the song the Unified Past treatment - we take the lead guitar section and electrify it and add an element of power to the song. We have gone back and forth with the idea of including this piece on our forth coming release, “Observations”. Instead, the song will be featured on the next Melodic Revolution Records Compilation CD “Progressive Journey II”, coming out in the near future. In a few days we will post our video for this song on our You Tube Channel. We’ll keep you posted on this and hope you’ll stop by and check it out. The ELP tribute CD is still in the works and the song will be included on that too. Stay tuned and Happy Easter everyone!
