It's awfully nice that my first major piece of press was so positive. Eric Harabadian of Progression Magazine (the biggest and oldest U.S. publication dedicated to prog...www.ProgressionMag.com) reviewed "Self-Evident Truths" for their autumn issue. Here's what he had to say in full:
"Tom More toiled for years in cover bands and more recently as sound engineer and composer for commercials and film projects. He mostly has remained behind the scenes but steps out boldly with this wonderful debut album. The vocalist/bassist/drummer and keyboardist takes center stage in a studio surrounded by a cadre of superb guest guitarists.
More is greatly influenced by the music of Rush, clearly evident on opening track “Misconnected.” He delivers his vocals in intelligent, unforced fashion over tight grooves and warm guitar work. That’s followed by some brilliant social commentary in “Heaven Knows.” The title track “Self Evident Truths” features meticulously arranged choral vocals and daring breaks in the bridge. “Whose Taboos” is another strong track fueled by a heavily syncopated drum figure and spirited guitar chords.
A personal favorite is album closer “Discord,” filled with some heavy lyrical wisdom and a bass line that just won’t quit! But as alluded to, Tom’s lyrical approach carries much weight. Themes center on our “inalienable rights” to life, liberty, and personal fulfillment, and our daily struggles to maintain them."
This is a much needed shot in the arm. In celebration of the good news I'd like to give a free download of one of the songs on the album to everyone who signs up on my mailing list. Just enter your e-mail address in the box on the Restrung Lefty or Tom More Music home pages and I'll send you the link for the music. I hope to hear from you soon!
