One night in Europe and other stories

Hello Unitopians

With the release of One night in Europe and the National tour, September and October were quite busy for everybody at Unitopia HQ!   Plus it was Mark’s birthday on October 10th so for those who missed the opportunity to say happy birthday, you can go on the website and leave your message on the forum or the guestbook!

One night in Europe

First, we had a few issues at production level that delayed the release of One night in Europe.  But we are happy to say that all the packages have been sent and lots of people received them already.  We are really proud to present such beautiful product – Thanks to Ed Unitsky for the wonderful artwork and to Bert Treep for the amazing pictures.  We also would like to thank Inside Out for their support.  Our label has accepted to advertise the DVD on their website even though it’s not one of their products.  The DVD is available through our website at www.unitopiamusic.com/shop. We are in negotiation process with different distributers all over the world.  We will keep you updated.

The National tour

We have just finished our first leg of the National tour, which included Sydney, Melbourne, and Adelaide. The shows although attendance was a little lower than we hoped for, were received very well. The Melbourne and Sydney shows were certainly the highlights. Matt was suffering from the flu, but his performance was outstanding. The Sydney shows were the stand out.  The Roxbury show was our first real acoustic performance, and playing a new version of More than a Dream, Tesla and The Garden in acoustic mode were something quite special.

The Factory Theatre had a little over 200 enthusiastic fans and it was probably one of the best shows we have ever done in Australia!  The sound was by far the best we have ever had. Unlike some of the other shows, we were summoned back for an encore (The Great Reward) Overall these gigs were the first step in getting the Australian public to embrace our sound.  Plans are in negotiation for several regional shows.

There should be more dates to announce really soon for January/February. Check out the website for more info on the tour!

Covered Mirror

Since we had to delay the release of the DVD, Covered Mirror’s release date has been pushed back as well a little.  It would probably become a great Christmas gift to give to your love ones!   The presale should start in November but we will keep you all updated.

The Hope

Steve Layton and Mark Trueack have laid down the music arrangements for the next Unitopia side Project called “The Hope”.  The concept is by Mark Trueack and it will be produced by Stephen Layton, Sean Timms Mark Trueack and Matt Williams. The music team will be called “The United Progressive Fraternity” it will feature many artists from the Progressive Fraternity, some known and some unknown.

One of the first songs to be lifted from the album is nearing completion “Water” which is a duet with Mark and Jon Anderson.  Jon will also be a part of the Hope opera theme music.

Other artists include Nikki Squire, Hasse Froberg, Craig Kelly, Paul Fisher, David Hopgood, Matt Williams, Sean Timms, Jonas Reingold, Jerry Marotta, Collin Leijenaar, Michel St-Père, Mary Katherine, Brittany Trueack, Claire Vezina , Redzen and we are waiting on several other quality musicians to confirm.

The album will represent issues that need a lot of attention on our planet. Each song will be aligned with a sponsor and charity, and will have various musicians from around the globe that will work with Mark’s voice.

Sean and Matt are working on a piece with Mark called The Bridge that Binds which represent depression and suicide and what we can do to identify it before it’s too late.

The double album is scheduled for release in February 2013.

Turn left

We will start to work on the new Unitopia album right after the release of The dream Box in mid-march 2012.   Tentative release date:  May 2013.

We want to take this opportunity to thank all the wonderful people who pre ordered One night in Europe.  You’ve helped us finance a part of the production and frankly, we would not have been able to get this DVD out without you!  We love you all!
