Power Of Prog Turns 1

I cannot believe it’s been a year since I first launched this website. When I first thought of launching a social network based around a very specific genre of music known as progressive rock and its many sub-genres I was not sure what to expect. At first I invited friends and musicians that I knew and before long our friends did the same at first it seemed to be all the rage and then the growth really seemed to slow down but has been very steady with spurts of many new members. The Site has also gone through some changes over the past year, for one I have become better at html not an easy task for some who is self taught and has only been at this for about four years. I have also added many features to the site and recently introduced an online shop right here on Power of Prog

When I started this site it was hosted by ning and it was good then back in May I found out that come August it would no longer be free and then I found out it was now going to cost me $500 a year to host a site that has no revenue. The purpose of this site has always been the same Promote good music whether it be an upcoming band or an international band and bring them together with a fans of prog craving something more. It seems to be working but I was not sure if I could keep the site up due to the cost. So I reached out by adding a donation button on the site and asked musicians to donate some music that we could give away to sponsors along with a special t-shirt and the response has been wonderful.

With that I look forward to another year of making new friends learning about new bands watching some cool videos and reading some very interesting blogs. So from the bottom of my heart I thank all of you that have shown support and sent me comment and or emails praising what I do here.
