Chilean Prog Ensemble Aisles Premieres New Video “Shallow and Daft”

Chilean Prog ensemble Aisles, South America’s most acclaimed prog band of the last 10 years, is premiering the second video of their “Live from Estudio del Sur” sessions, for the song “Shallow and Daft”, which was originally released on the album “4:45 AM” (2013). The clip was directed by Bernardo Quesney, who has worked with artists like Gepe and Javiera Mena.

Says Aisles guitarist, German Vergara, “Shallow and Daft is a song with a strong criticism to the logic behind the mass entertainment industry. We wanted to be deliberately ironic and the original version had a notoriously ’80s pop sound. When we decided to release this series of videos we thought we could make it more current with a modern, fresher sound. Additionally, we wanted to include a feminine touch so we invited the talented singer Catalina Blanco from the rock band Tephiret. We kept the message but presented it in a new form”.

The “Live from Estudio del Sur” sessions started with the video for the song ‘Clouds Motion’, and it will continue with more videos coming soon.

With four studio albums and a career spanning twelve years, Aisles have become South America’s most acclaimed prog act of the last decade. Their daring combination of rock, fusion, jazz and world music illustrates the band’s uniquely eclectic approach. The group has played in South America and Europe, and their albums have been released in Europe, the Americas, and Japan.

In 2009 their second album “In Sudden Walks” was nominated for Best Foreign Record in the Italian Prog Awards and the group was invited to open the 11th Progressive Rock Festival Crescendo in France. Their third album, “4:45 AM” (2013) was widely acclaimed worldwide and was chosen among the best albums of that year in a number of specialized publications. “Hawaii” (July, 2016), their fourth studio album was called a “masterpiece” and named one of the albums of the year by media outlets such as Prog (England), Neoprog (France), Raw Ramp (England) and Chile’s premiere rock magazine, Rockaxis.

New Video By Chilean Prog Ensemble Aisles!

Chilean Prog ensemble Aisles, South America’s most acclaimed prog band of the last 20 years, is releasing their “Live from Estudio del Sur” sessions. The first of four videos is for the song “Clouds Motion” from Aisles’ debut studio album, “The Yearning.” Says Aisles guitarist, Germán Vergara, “The reason why we chose to record ‘Clouds Motion’ is because, even though it’s one of our oldest tunes, to this day it still represents all of us and it is one of the favorite songs of the audience that has followed us from the beginning of our career.”

Director Bernardo Quesney, renowned for his work with Chilean rock and pop artists like Gepe and Javiera Mena adds: “I had never worked with a band so meticulous in the performance of their music. Their songs are a journey, as they are not just about seeing Aisles play, but there is an actual musical conversation and a challenge between the instruments.”

Aisles are currently closing the promotion cycle of “Hawaii,” their most successful album to date. “Hawaii” has been highly acclaimed by Chile’s most important radio station (Futuro), by South America’s largest rock magazine (Rockaxis) and by international media outlets such as PROG (UK), Neoprog (France) and All About the Rock (UK). In October 2016, the band visited Europe for the second time in their career, playing shows in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, and England. In 2017, Aisles went on their first US and Mexico tours, with appearances at Progstock (New Jersey), Progtoberfest (Chicago), and Fest Prog Jazz (Mexico City). Additionally, the band performed at the Marillion Weekend Chile and opened for Dutch prog legends Focus in Santiago.

Aisles – Featured Artist of The Week

aisles 2

Aisles have been considered one of the most interesting Progressive Rock bands of recent years and have just released their third studio album ‘4:45 AM’.

Their soulfully crafted combination of rock, progressive rock, art rock, fusion, world music and other styles illustrates the band’s unique liberal and eclectic music vision.

Aisles have been regarded as Prog Rock, but their approach to music goes far beyond that while creating a very powerful and unique type of music and sound. In 2003 the band produced a demo with the goal of publishing their music. Having achieved such a high quality of sound and powerful compositions they decided to use it as their first record. In 2005 “The Yearning” was born and consequently published and distributed in Europe, the United States and Japan. In 2007 the seeds of the album “In Sudden Walks” were sown. This self-produced album was in works for over a year, while the band perfected their music and sound alongside internationally recognized technicians.

Once again, the quality of both the music and the production of “In Sudden Walks” caught the attention of the music press. AISLES were nominated for the Prog Awards (Italy) in the Best Foreign Record category, no mean achievement given the strong history of Italy’s progressive music. In addition the band were invited to France to open the 11th Progressive Rock Festival CRESCENDO in August 2009, and were a huge hit with the audience, consolidating their place on the international music scene.

Aisles were formed to serve as a constantly evolving vehicle of expression maintaining an unmistakably unique identity. Allowing creativity to prevail above all else fuels the band’s desire to create.

Aisles’ third record, ‘4:45 AM, has been officially released on October 29th via Presagio Records.
