PATTERN-SEEKING ANIMALS – release lyric video of ‘Stars Along the Way’!

PATTERN-SEEKING ANIMALS is the brand new group featuring the talents of current & former Spock’s Beard members Ted Leonard (lead vocals & guitar), Jimmy Keegan (drums & vocals) and Dave Meros (bass) as well as long-time contributing songwriter-keyboardist John Boegehold who also produced the album.

The band’s eponymously titled debut album was released via InsideOutMusic in July 2019 and now releases a lyric video for the album’s closing epic ‘Stars Along the Way’. The clip, created by Stan Ausmus at JuzMaintain Productions, can be viewed here:

John Boegehold comments: “Dave and I wrote this a while back from the viewpoint of a guy feeling sorry for his lot in life.  I love the bass tone he came up with and Ted’s guitar tone is classic 70s. Is voodoo-swamp prog a genre?”

John Boegehold has the following to say about this track:
“So, let me get this straight. You’re saying that a song that’s more than ten minutes long with inscrutable lyrics, multiple key, time and tempo changes, mellotron and fretless bass with several guitar and synth solos doesn’t stand a chance of toppling Taylor Swift and BTS from the top of worldwide pop charts? Not sure I like your negative attitude, mister.”

The album is available as limited CD digipak, gatefold 2LP + CD and on all digital platforms. Order now here: https://patternseekinganimals.lnk.to/PatternSeekingAnimals

LEPROUS – Release new single & video “Below”

Today, Norwegian Rock outfit LEPROUS are launching the first single, “Below”, off their sixth and most ambitious studio album ‘Pitfalls’, which is to be released on October 25th, 2019 worldwide via InsideOutMusic.

Check out “Below” in an intense video directed by Dariusz Szermanowicz / Grupa13 (Behemoth, Kreator, Amon Amarth) and filmed in Wroclaw, Poland

LEPROUS vocalist and keyboardist Einar Solberg checked in with the following comment about “Below”:
“Below” was the first song written for the “Pitfalls” album and it was composed in a period of denial of what was to come. It was a very spontaneous song, made first with only piano and vocals. “Below” is a very emotional and melancholic track, and it means a lot to me personally – both musically and lyrically. Large cinematic string arrangements, electronic elements, very acoustic and organic parts – all combined. Very epic but at the same time very fragile!”

“Pitfalls” was once again recorded with David Castillo at Ghostward Studios (Opeth, Katatonia), but this time mixed by Adam Noble (Placebo, Biffy Clyro, Nothing But Thieves, Deaf Havana). The cover artwork is a painting from Indonesian artist Elicia Edijanto. The album’s regular track-listing reads as follows:

LEPROUS – “Pitfalls”
Track-listing:
1. Below
2. I Lose Hope
3. Observe The Train
4. By My Throne
5. Alleviate
6. At The Bottom
7. Distant Bells

9. The Sky Is Red

“Pitfalls” will be available as limited Mediabook CD with two bonus tracks (“Golden Prayers” and the Massive Attack cover “Angel”), as Standard Jewelcase CD and as Gatefold 2LP on 180gr. vinyl with the album on CD as bonus (in Europe!) and an Etching on the D-Side. German instrumental-rock group LONG DISTANCE CALLING are pleased to announce their first ever live album ‘STUMMFILM – Live from Hamburg (A Seats & Sounds Show)’, scheduled for release on November 1st, 2019 through InsideOutMusic. Filmed during a special run of dates in early 2019, it saw the band performing seated shows in some very special locations for a stunning experience.

The band comments: “We are happy to unveil our first ever live album ‘STUMMFILM – Live From Hamburg’ which we recorded on the ‘Seats & Sounds’ tour earlier this year. After more than ten years on the road, we felt it’s more than about time to do a proper live album. We can’t wait to share this beautiful experience with you! Love LDC”

For 13 years now, the Münster-based four-piece Long Distance Calling has been famed and cherished for its weightless yet massive music. After having returned to their instrumental roots Long Distance Calling sat down to carefully ponder their next step. When they got up again, they were ready for their most extraordinary live undertaking yet: Aptly entitled “Seats & Sounds”, this string of concerts saw Long Distance Calling take to the stage in very special locations in front on a seated audience.

The band took the matter almost religiously and went to great lengths in pulling off their most daring effort. “We wanted to go one step further, highlighting the audio-visual quality of the band for the very first time”, the band states, referring to the phalanx of video screens and specially curated visuals corresponding to each song.

One of those rare performances, the one at the Kulturkirche Altona in Hamburg, was captured on film and tape and is now being released. More an elegant silent film (visually speaking) than an ordinary live video, Long Distance Calling deliver a stunning performance in two acts: A “normal” Long Distance Calling set with songs from all their albums, and a special ‘Avoid the Light’ set, performing the dramatic album almost in its entirety. “This is one of the most important releases of our entire career”, the band continues, “and playing it felt like time travel.”

Meticulously prepared and rehearsed, this is Long Distance Calling on another level. Backed by guest musicians Luca Gilles on cello and Aaron Schrade on percussion and electronic beats, the experimental rock veterans show their grandeur in cinemascope – elaborately filmed and monumentally staged. In the end, Janosch Rathmer (drums), Jan Hoffmann (bass), Florian Füntmann (guitar) and David Jordan (guitar) not only played their biggest Hamburg headlining show; they also peaked their stellar career.

Fates Warning frontman RAY ALDER – Signs solo worldwide deal with InsideOutMusic

Debut album “What The Water Wants” out on October 18th First single launched today!

After various successful releases with his main band in the previous years, InsideOutMusic are now proud to welcome longtime Fates Warning vocalist and frontman Ray Alder to a new worldwide co-operation for his solo releases.

Ray Alder checked in with the following comment: “Hi everyone! I am so happy to announce that I have signed a deal with InsideOutMusic for my solo project and the debut album “What The Water Wants”. I want to thank InsideOutMusic for giving me the opportunity to record and share this album with the world. For the last year I have been writing with Mike Abdow, (Fates Warning touring guitarist), guitarist/bassist Tony Hernando (Lords Of Black) and my longtime friend Craig Anderson (Ignite) on drums. The album was mixed by Simone Mularoni (Rhapsody, Michael Romeo, DGM, etc.), who worked tirelessly with me to give this project the great sound we felt it deserved. I have had the ideas for a while but never had the time to actually sit down and write. But since Fates Warning had taken a break from writing and touring I finally had the chance to assemble the album. I hope you all enjoy it as much as we did writing and recording it!”

Ray Alder’s first solo album for the label is entitled “What The Water Wants” and includes 10 melodic and versatile songs created with assistance from guitarists Mike Abdow (Fates Warning touring member) and Tony Hernando (Lords Of Black) as well as drummer Craig Anderson (Ignite, Crescent Shield). The album was mixed by Simone Mularoni (Rhapsody, Michael Romeo, DGM) and will be released worldwide on October 18th, 2019.

A first single and introduction to the record has been launched today, so check out the track “What The Water Wanted” in a lyric video by Cloud Music Typography here:

Ray Alder’s “What The Water Wants” will be available as limited first-pressing Digipak CD with a bonus track (An acoustic version of “The Road”) and as LP on 180gr. vinyl with the full album on CD as bonus.

The Flower Kings announce studio double-album ‘Waiting For Miracles’

Progressive rock legends THE FLOWER KINGS are pleased to announce the release of their brand new studio double-album ‘Waiting For Miracles’ on the 8th November 2019. The album is comprised of 15 new tracks, recorded over the summer at RMV studio in Stockholm, Sweden – a vintage studio space owned by ABBA star Benny Andersson.
Band leader Roine Stolt comments: “We have gone back to the joyful and playful style that made the band famous in the late 90’s. So here ‘more’ is always ‘more’! At time the lyrics have a bit of a serious concern about the state of our world, but overall the theme is full of joy and colour.”
The band, currently comprised of Roine Stolt, Jonas Reingold, Hasse Fröberg, Zach Kamins & Mirko DeMaio (the most recent live line-up), have crafted an adventurous collection of pure prog-rock. Expect boat-loads of vintage keyboards, odd time signatures and long guitar solos – with elements of pop, symphonic and cinematic music.

The album will be released as a 2CD, Gatefold 2LP + 2CD & as a digital album, featuring beautiful artwork by American artist Kevin Sloan. Find the full track-listing below:

Disc 1:
• House Of Cards
• Black Flag
• Miracles For America
• Vertigo
• The Bridge
• Ascending To The Stars
• Wicked Old Symphony
• The Rebel Circus
• Sleep With The Enemy
• The Crowning Of Greed

Disc 2:
• House Of Cards Reprise
• Spirals
• Steampunk
• We Were Always Here
• Busking At Brobank

The Flower Kings also recently announced they would be heading out on tour this December with label-mates KAYAK. Roine Stolt: “We’re happy to go on tour in Europe again in December – We will present The Flower Kings music from the early days – concert favorites – plus some brand new music – that is along the lines of the early music of the band – symphonic rock. We’re happy to bring our friends in KAYAK along for this proggy double bill – it will be a monumental meltdown of melodic prog – not to be missed.”
The two bands will perform 12 dates across 6 countries, and you find the full list of shows below, tickets on sale now:

The Flower Kings started as an outlet for guitarist/singer/composer Roine Stolt in 1994 – a time when prog-rock wasn’t mere history, nor a dirty word. The band quickly gained momentum and was one of a handful of bands helping to revive the progressive rock scene worldwide. Roine has since collaborated with a host of legendary musicians across various projects, including his acclaimed 2015 album with Yes-legend Jon Anderson, progressive-rock supergroup Transatlantic alongside Neal Morse, Mike Portnoy & Pete Trewavas, and a year as bass player with Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett. The Flower Kings, however, has always felt like home for Roine and the other band veterans Jonas Reingold & Hasse Fröberg.
TFK former bass player, singer – Michael Stolt guest on 4 songs – and there is also real strings on one track by Paul Cartwright; Violin & John “Zach” Dellinger; Viola.
