Emerald City Council to Release Debut Album in Early 2024 via Melodic Revolution Records

October 28th 2023
Melodic Revolution is beyond ecstatic to introduce you to Emerald City Council, one of the finest new progressive rock outfits. Emerald City Council is an American progressive rock band that was formed in 2021 out of a recording project written and produced by saxophonist/keyboardist Brent Bristow.

About The Album:
The debut album, Motion Carries, will be released in early 2024 on CD, Limited Edition Transparent Green Double LP, and Digital, as well as streaming on all popular channels. The debut clocks in at just over an hour and boasts nine original tracks. The music is nothing short of sublime, and I always feel uncomfortable to compare a band’s music. That said, this band will appeal to fans of Able Ganz, Flying Colors, Kansas, Seven Steps to the Green Door, Proto-Kaw, Native Window, Alan Parsons Project, Transatlantic, and Fish On Friday.
– Nick Katona President of Melodic Revolution

About Emerald City Council:
The band features vocalist Jake Livgren (Proto-Kaw, Kerry Livgren), drummer Noah Hungate (The Band Perry, son of Toto’s David Hungate), Jeremy Nichols (Erin Coburn) on bass, up-and-coming guitarist Seth Hankerson, and saxophonist/keyboardist Brent Bristow (Professor of Music at Arkansas State University-Beebe). Brandon Goff, Associate Professor of Music Industry at Francis Marion University, has also contributed significant guitar work as a special collaborator to the band.

The album includes several guest appearances, including guitar solos from Paul Bielatowicz (Carl Palmer, Neal Morse), and Mike Thompson (The Sons of Kirk), plus contributions from actors Jeffery Combs (Star Trek, Re-Animator) and Steve Rankin (Star Trek, X-Files).

Multi-Grammy/Emmy-winning engineer and producer Jamie Tate, an important member of the ECC team, mixed and mastered the material at the Rukkus Room Studio in Nashville. Artist Thomas Ewerhard provided the cover artwork that perfectly captures the spirit of the music.

From a statement from the band:
“On behalf of the Council, we are honored and excited to join the Melodic Revolution Records family. We are impressed by the MRR team’s enthusiasm for our music, and we are confident this partnership will help get our music to the right audience.”

Emerald City Council are:
Jake Livgren-lead and backing vocals, keyboard
Noah Hungate-drums
Jeremy Nichols-bass
Seth Hankerson-guitar
Brent Bristow-saxophones, keyboards, recorder, guitar, vocals

Kinetic Element Set to Launch New Studio Album Chasing the Lesser Light on March 20th Through Melodic Revolution Records in Advance of their Appearance at the Winter’s End Festival in the UK on April 1st. Pre-orders Kick-off March 3rd

Melodic Revolution Records is thrilled to announce the upcoming release Chasing the Lesser Light by US Symphonic Prog band Kinetic Element.

Chasing the Lesser Light is a sixty-minute symphonic prog journey through human’s desire to explore space. From the lunar missions of 50 years ago to the present-day planning for a journey to Mars.

Five songs cover the past, present, and future:

1) First Stage (6:15) – contemplating space travel, as we learn to fly high without wings.
2) Chasing the Lesser Light (19:50) – landing on the moon, and seeing the earth as one world.
3) Radio Silence (9:55) – the perils of space travel, with the emotional impact on an astronaut’s son.
4) We Can’t Forget (11:35) – glancing back at the moon, as we look ahead to mars.
5) Door To Forever (15:18) – reopening the door to space travel, and to become the Starman in the sky.

The cover artwork portrays space travel as commonplace with a man in a business suit and helmet, as he observes an Apollo launch that brought a nation and the world together.

ARNOLDO’S LIZARDS – SATANIC ATTACK OR DIVINE PUNISHMENT – MELODIC REVOLUTION RECORDS

The latest signing to Melodic Revolution Records is a duo based in Mar del Plata, Argentine, comprising Alvare Goco (vocals and backing vocals) and Jack Dimensions (vocals, backing vocals, piano, keyboards, synthesizers, and programming). For the album they have also been joined by Elías Ciambotti (bass and electric guitars), Ezequiel Volpe (bass), Randall Lewer (electric guitars), Florabril Leguimus (backing vocals) and Andres Guazzelli (backing vocals). The only way to really describe this album is as art rock, as musically this is all over the place. The main feature of the album are the vocals of Alvare who sounds as if she has been classically trained, and is simply wonderful, but the songs themselves are a very strange combination of different styles. The first time I played this I did so four times back-to-back, and by the end of it I was still confused by what I was hearing, and I still cannot decide if the issue is with me or with the music itself.

This is an unsettling album in that it is moving in so many different areas, from pop to faux classical, prog and funk to symphonic. I get the impression, rightly or wrongly, that this is a very visual band and that it will make more sense in a live setting but all I can say for sure is that it confuses the hell out of me when I play it. But, that does not make it a bad album at all, just one I am still attempting to get my head around. It is out of time, as to my mind it should have been festering and growing out of the incredible CBGB’s scene in the Seventies, sitting alongside Television and Talking Heads, as they can go from something that is quite rocky into a Latin break which would be more at home on a Santana release if it weren’t for the manic laughing in the background. This will not be to everyone’s tastes, and to be honest, I am still not sure if it is to mine, but I know I would much rather listen to bands like this who are genuinely trying to do something different than sound like everyone else at the zoo. Each song is very different indeed, and this feels way more like an artistic performance than “just” an album. This is one for those who want their music to be out in left field and as far removed from the sensible mainstream as possible.
