You can take MP out of DT, but you can’t take DT out of MP… đ¤đť
I’ve spent the last 6 & 1/2 years doing a million things that have NOTHING to do with DT…making all different kinds of music with so many great musicians…but intensionally NOT playing or revisiting DT material…
But now for the remainder of 2017 in celebration of my 50th Birthday and as MY GIFT BACK TO YOU, I AM FINALLY READY to pay tribute to my past and revisit this music!
These Shattered Fortress shows will be a fully-immersive MP/DT experience…The type of show, setlist & environment that I ALWAYS delivered to you great fans for all of those 25 years between 1985 to 2010
Everything from the house music when you enter the venue (cool rarities taken from my extensive DT archives) to the rare DT-era MP items I will have at the merchandise stand…even down to my stage clothes from previous DT tours that I will pulling out of retirement from my closet! (I hope they still fit!! Hahaha)
All leading up to the incredible show & setlist I have prepared for you…
Delivered by some of the best musicians in Prog today (the amazing HAKEN along with Prog’s newest guitar hero: Eric Gillette)…all playing this music with loving passion and extreme precision.
For those of you that constantly post about missing me in DT, this is your chance to revisit those days with meâŚ
Once the clock strikes 2018, I will be returning to all of the other bands and music in my lifeâŚ(Flying Colors, Transatlantic, The Neal Morse Band, The Winery Dogs, Metal Allegiance and my brand new all-star band with Derek Sherinian)
For all of you that have been posting online for the past 6 years wanting to see me to “go back to DT”, unless those guys have a change of heart, it seems this is the closest you are going to get!!
There are no guarantees for tomorrow…there’s only TODAY!
So I am seizing the fuck out of the day… : )
This is the ONLY (and possibly last??) chance to share the DT experience with me and hear me play this music again…
THIS IS IT…CARPE DIEM!!
The biggest show of the tour at the 013 in Holland is ALREADY SOLD OUT! That means most a lot of others will as well…so get your tickets NOW to insure a spot in sharing these wonderful memories with me and celebrating my 50th Birthday with this music that was such a huge part of my life…

We are happy to announce, pending permits to be granted by the US government, that Peruvian band Flor de Loto has been signed for ROSFest 2018! They will appear as the third band on Sunday, May 6th.
Progressive rock is alive and well on the South American continent, and one of the most popular progressive rock bands in South America is Flor de Loto from Peru. They have built a steadily growing fan base all over the continent since the appearance of their self-titled debut album in 2005. Since then, their solid presence as a live band for more than a decade and the seven studio albums to their name have cemented their reputation as a high quality band.
Their take on progressive rock is one that resides somewhere in between Jethro Tull and Iron Maiden, incorporating elements from metal, Andean folk music and chamber music into their compositions alongside nods towards hard rock and psychedelic rock. This blend results in a sound and style with a broad appeal: this is a band with fans also from outside of the progressive rock universe.
Alonso Herrera, Alejandro Jarrin, Pablo Alayza, Alvaro Escobar, Pierre FarfĂĄn and Gabriel Iwasaki are members of a band that has a reputation as a quality act on all levels. We are eagerly looking forward to being able to experience one of the top progressive rock bands from the South American continent performing live at ROSfest 2018.
NIGHTWISH WILL START THEIR 9-MONTH âDECADES: WORLD TOURâ FROM NORTH AMERICA
In March 2018, symphonic metal legends NIGHTWISH will begin their 9-month-long ‘DECADES: WORLD TOUR 2018‘ starting with 34 shows in North America.
The band will have a very special setlist for the tour, featuring rarely heard material from the earlier era, and excitingly for both band and fans, they will revisit the old songs with some new twists.
This setlist will be a ‘one-off’ and only performed on this ‘DECADES: WORLD TOUR 2018’
Pre-sales will start on Monday, June 12th for most of these North American venues.
To accompany the tour, Nuclear Blast will release a 2CD compilation ÂťDecadesÂŤ on the 9th of March 2018. On the night of the show, every ticket holder will receive a copy of the 2CD as a memento of this unique tour.

New York based prog band EDENSONG, recently called “a great example of contemporary Progressive Rock” by Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson, is heading out on a North American tour next week with Detroit’s Imminent Sonic Destruction. This will be EDENSONG’s first tour in support of their newest album, the critically acclaimed Years in the Garden of Years(2016, Laser’s Edge).
Ianâs quote, which appears in the News Section of JethroTull.com, is âEdensong are a great example of the contemporary face of Progressive Rock. Detailed and energetic performances with heavy guitars, which give way to subtle blends of dynamic variation.â
Fresh off a successful appearance at ROSfest in Gettysburg, PA on May 7th, the band heads next to the Terra Incognita Festival in Quebec City, QC on May 20 before meeting up with ISD in Toronto on May 22 to kick off the official tour. The two bands join forces with a variety of popular, local support acts, including Half Past Four in Toronto, District 97 in Chicago, and Next to None in New York City.
“Each show is like its own miniature festival,â says guitarist/singer James Byron Schoen. âWe’re teaming up with some of our favorite bands in each city we’re stopping. There’s gonna be a ton of variety at these shows so the nights should appeal to fans of progressive rock and metal alike.”
TRYO (Chile) is considered one of the most important and influential Chilean and Latin American Progressive bands in the last decades. They recently published their new acclaimed acoustic album âOfrendaâ and conceptual album âĂrbitasâ, and will soon celebrate 3 decades of extraordinary artistic career (1987 â 2017) with their upcoming 2017 Anthology album (with bonus material) and a â30th Anniversary World Tourâ.
Their unique sound is the result of the creativity and virtuosity of the band´s multi-instrumentalists, with electric and acoustic compositions, and fusing Prog with other various musical genres (e.g., Metal, Rock, Jazz, Latin American folklore, World and Classical Music), providing great variety to their discography
Some of the TRYO´s career highlights are: a) Opening acts for amazing international artists, such as: âYesâ, âAdrian Belewâ, âKansasâ, âHermeto Pascoalâ, âFlairckâ, âJoe Satrianiâ (Satriani, Minnemann, Beller & Keneally) and âMarillionâ (Marillion Weekend Chile, May 2017); b) That their musicians were invited to play with âJimmy Page & Robert Plantâ (Led Zeppelin), âCongresoâ, âLos Jaivasâ, âFocusâ and âLuz de Riadaâ (RamsĂŠs Luna); and c) Have composed the soundtrack of the successful application of the city â port of Valparaiso (Chile) as âWorld Heritageâ at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
During these three decades of music, âTRYOâ (Chile) has received many awards and excellent specialized music press reviews in Chile and abroad. Last year was one of the best in the band´s trajectory: a) Recently named âChilean Artist of the Year 2016â (by Rockaxis – Vanguardia); and b) Their âĂrbitasâ album was recognized as âBest Chilean Album of 2016â (by ChileanSkies), âSurprise Album of 2016â (by Rock at Night´s Progressive Rock Extravaganza U.S.A.), while the album´s songs were included in important prog compilations and radio programs worldwide (e.g., âMusic for Reliefâ â There is Hope Records U.S.A.).
The band has maintained its original line up to these days, and is composed by the famous Chilean academics and musicians Ismael Cortez A. (electric & acoustic guitars, keyboards and lead vocals), Francisco Cortez A. (fretted & fretless electric bass guitar, bass pedals / station, cello and backing vocals) and Felix Carbone K. (drums and various acoustic- electric-hybrid percussion instruments, such as Mallet Kat, marimba, vibraphone, Handsonic, Wavedrum, Octapad, djembe, derbake, kultrun, udu, tabla, gong, quartz and tibetan bowls).
Los Angeles based Rock Fusion trio, King Llama, is hitting some big stages this year with their album, RETURN TO OX. Happening right now is a South American tour. Look out as King Llama performs at a few notable festivals, including 2 days at Summer Camp Festival in Chillicothe IL this Memorial Day weekend, and Progtoberfest in Chicago on Saturday 10/21.
As the band is now touring in Argentina and Chile, they will also be recording a new live music video in the historical studio “Zanezi” in Mendoza. Look out for these releases this summer!
RETURN TO OX – recorded and produced with Dave Schiffman at East West Studios in Los Angeles – is available in all mediums including a double LP (vinyl), and can easily be found through the band’s website: www.kingllama.com
Canadaâs profilprog.com says it best: âThe album is a great success. Each title is deploying a multiplicity of environments covering a broad stylistic spectrum (from jazz to metal) and offers many variations of dynamic, alternating saturation and its clear epileptic breaks, harmonic progressions in black textures and air.â
Relix Magazine hits home with this: “King Llama draw from an impressive range of musical styles to forge their own brand of acid-jazz and prog-rock.â
King Llama has certainly forged their own style of fusion, and each show they perform more than demonstrates their ability to surprise the ear with fresh and clever approaches towards composition.
