MARBIN, one of the biggest treasures and musical talents found by MoonJune’s honcho Leonardo Pavkovic, is a progressive instrumental jam-jazz-rock-blues-fusion band based in Chicago, IL, with a unique story that stands out in today’s music world. With a do-it-yourself approach and encouragement by Mr. Pavkovic, MARBIN started touring extensively in 2011, bringing their original instrumental music to every part of the United States. Through word of mouth, MARBIN has gained tens of thousands of devoted fans all over the world, and has sold tens of thousands of albums. MARBIN has released six albums: Marbin (2009; self-release), Breaking the Cycle (2011; MoonJune), Last Chapter of Dreaming (2013; MoonJune), The Third Set (2014; MoonJune), Aggressive Hippies (2015; self-release; marketed by MoonJune), and Goatman and the House of the Dead (2016; self-release; marketed by MoonJune).
“The hardest working band in America! Averaging 250 shows a year!”
“Far from being just another jazz-rock fusion band, Marbin occupies their own stylistic space. More an instrumental rock band than a jazz fusion band, Marbin’s music seems to come from the guitar hero world of Joe Satriani, Steve Vai and Joe Bonamassa. But there’s a good deal of other stuff going on in their music. Steeped in blues, surf, and the folk music of their native Israel, in addition to jazz- rock, Marbin consistently avoids easy pigeonholing. Part of this is due to the fact that the band is based on the musical partnership of two virtuosos: guitarist Dani Rabinand saxophonist Danny Markovitch. People stopped thinking of saxophone as a virtuosic lead instrument in rock music decades ago, but Markovitch seems determined to change that view single- handedly.” – Dave Wayne, All About Jazz
“Jazz-fusion, rock, folk, blues, prog-rock, bits of heavy metal, and straight jazz…it’s all here folks in one nice little package. [Marbin is a] band that needs to be on your immediate radar if they aren’t already.” – Pete Pardo, Sea Of Tranquility
“Danny Markovitch might not be the best driver in the world, but he can play a heck of a sax, he is a monster.” – Allan Holdsworth (R.I.P.)
“Guitarist Dani Rabin and saxophonist Danny Markovitch generate lightning fast unison choruses and dynamic solo sprees atop the rhythm section’s tight, razor-sharp focus.” – Glenn Astarita, All About Jazz
”Marbin is a crazy talented group making music hard to pin down but easy to appreciate. – Victor Aaron, Something Else
“Let’s just say I’m completely blown away from this group and their albums.” – Zachary Nathanson, Music From the Other Side of the Room

Jethro Tull and The Carducci String Quartet – New Album and Tour

Now in stores and all online digital sites is THE STRING QUARTETS, the new album by Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson and The Carducci String Quartet. THE STRING QUARTETS features the classic songs of Jethro Tull, arranged and orchestrated by Ian’s keyboardist John O’Hara. Ian plays flute on most of the tracks and even sings a few lines here and there to provide his trademark sounds in the context of classical music traditions. “Locomotive Breath,” “Living In The Past,” and “Aqualung,” are amongst the songs revised with new arrangements and titles— “Loco,” “In The Past,” and “Aquafugue.” (Full track listing appears below.)

“The album finds its most authentic voice the further it gets away from the original songs” writes Russ Coffey of UK’s ARTS DESK.

John O’Hara delved deeper and offered new imagining of each classic. “An orchestrator’s job is to arrange and compose a new version of an existing work.” O’Hara also felt “a responsibility to the Jethro Tull listeners who cherish this material and may not welcome a radical rendition of a beloved song.”

THE STRING QUARTETS was recorded in the crypt of Worcester Cathedral, UK and in St Kenelm’s Church, Sapperton, Gloucestershire, UK.

The Carducci String Quartet is highly celebrated for its interpretation of contemporary repertoire, and are regularly invited to perform new works. The group has won international competitions, including the Concert Artists Guild International Competition 2007 and Finland’s Kuhmo International Chamber Music Competition. This Anglo-Irish quartet has appeared at prestigious venues across the globe including the Wigmore Hall, London; National Concert Hall, Dublin; Tivoli Concert Hall, Copenhagen; Carnegie Hall, New York and Library of Congress and John F Kennedy Center, Washington DC. Festival appearances include Cheltenham Music Festival, Festival Messiaen au pays Meije, West Cork Chamber Music festival, Kuhmo Festival and the Wratislavia Cantans Festival in Poland. Their website is www.carducciquartet.com

The album is available in the U.S. via The End Records/BMG.

THE MOODY BLUES TO EMBARK ON HISTORIC “DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED – 50TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR”

PERFORMING THEIR ICONIC ALBUM LIVE ONSTAGE IN ITS ENTIRETY – FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER

LEGENDARY BAND TO BRING AUDIENCES ACROSS THE U.S. AND CANADA A FIRST-EVER LIVE TOUR OF THEIR ENTIRE LANDMARK ALBUM FEATURING “NIGHTS IN WHITE SATIN,” “TUESDAY AFTERNOON” AND MORE;  PLUS GREATEST HITS

TOUR BEGINS JUNE 3 THROUGH JULY 23

Los Angeles, CA (Feburary 16, 2017)– The Moody Blueswill launch a special live tour celebrating the 50th Anniversary of their iconic, landmark album, DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED, which was originally released in 1967.  The band will reflect back on five decades of some of the most well beloved music in pop culture history this summer, when they perform live onstage, for the first-time ever, their epic album that marked the first time a rock band had fused their sound with a symphony orchestra.  The tour, titled DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED – 50TH ANNIVERSARY, will bring the live excitement of seeing the band perform their greatest hits in the first half, and then finish with DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED performed in the second half.  The tour begins on June 3 in Rancho Mirage, California, and continues through July 23 in Atlanta, Georgia, hitting 25 cities (and 28 performances), including Los Angeles, New York, Chicago, Boston, Philadelphia, Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Seattle, Baltimore, Denver, Cleveland, Nashville, and many more.

Fans will have waited 50 years to experience this moment in time, as the band’s first full-length studio album, DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED, was a ground-breaking concept album when it was first released. So unique in its approach, the recording of their first studio album turned out to be piece of music history.  Their record label, Decca Records, had requested that the band record an album to test “stereo recording,” which was in its infancy at the time.  Being primarily a classical label, The Moody Blues were asked to record a rock version of Dvorak’s 9th Symphony.  The band complied, but wanted to record it on their own terms.  Behind closed doors, they came up with the concept of fusing classical music with rock, but written to their own soundtrack.  The result was DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED, an album that today, many consider a masterpiece – featuring one full album without breaks, chronicling “a day in the life of” a person with songs that include “The Day Begins,” “Dawn:  Dawn Is a Feeling,” “The Morning:  Another Morning,” “Lunch Break:  Peak Hour,” “Tuesday Afternoon (Forever Afternoon),” “Evening Time to Get Away”;  Twilight Time” and “The Night:  Nights In White Satin.”

From DAYS, the song Tuesday Afternoon” became a massive worldwide hit, and “Nights In White Satin” marked one of the first four minute songs played on the radio, going on to become one of the biggest selling singles in history, and hitting #1 three separate times on Billboard.  The ultimate result: one of the greatest-selling albums of all-time.

Says Hayward, “Little did we know when we made DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED that it would eventually change our lives — it took five long years to make it the top of the charts. But we mustn’t take all the credit for this remarkable project — there were many creative minds who contributed at the time, and who believed in us when we were young and inexperienced. We just wrote the songs — about every-man.  My dearest wish is that maybe the album has made the world a better place.  It will be a joy to return to it, live.”

Adds Lodge, “DAYS OF FUTURE PASSED…seven days that changed my world…”

From the time the British band first hit the rock scene, The Moody Blues have continued to produce music that bridge the gap between rock, classical and pop-rock genres.  Featuring guitarist/vocalist Justin Hayward, bassist/vocalist John Lodge, and drummer Graeme Edge, The Moody Blues’ sound has held its ground in a genre of music that is ever-changing.

The Moody Blues have sold in excess of 70 million albums worldwide and have been awarded 14 platinum and gold discs.  Their roster of hits include:  “Nights In White Satin,” “Tuesday Afternoon,” “Ride My See Saw,” “The Story In Your Eyes,” “Isn’t Life Strange, Question,” “I’m Just A Singer (In A Rock And Roll Band),” “Your Wildest Dreams,” and “I Know You’re Out There Somewhere,” to name a few.  The Moody Blues’ No. 1, Top 5, Top 10, Top 20, Top 40, Multi-Platinum, Platinum and Gold albums and singles, have generated sold-out tours on a consistent basis over the course of several decades, making them one of the top-grossing album and touring bands of all time.

RIVERSIDE – TOWARDS THE BLUE HORIZON TOUR 2017

riverside

2017 must be a better year. And we have to come back to life. But we won’t, unless we come back to the stage… so it is our great pleasure to inform you that Riverside will go back to playing live this year.

After two very special evenings in February, which, for obvious reasons, are going to be unique and one of a kind, we have planned two legs of a special “Towards the Blue Horizon Tour”. The first one will begin in April and May. The second one will start in the autumn and we’ll visit more European countries.

During “Towards the Blue Horizon Tour” we will play in a new live line-up with a guest guitarist who will make our music sound the way it should, not only because he’s a great musician but, most of all, because he’s got the kind of modesty and humility about him which has always been very important to us on stage. Additionally, we’re going to present a lot of compositions which we have not played live before. Our concerts will also be filled with emotions we haven’t felt before. Together with you, we want to dive into this and make each composition sound more mighty than ever.

We’re becoming a different band, more mature, more serious, more experienced. Piotr is gone, but he will always be with us and we are still a live band. Which we’re going to prove soon during our “Towards the Blue Horizon Tour”. Remember, “This is not the end, this is not the time.”
