It is with great regret that we must announce Sam’s departure from
the band. Sam joined Kyros before the release of the then self-titled
‘Synaesthesia’ album and has played a
key role in performing, singing and writing material since. Having
contributed significantly towards the writing and playing on ‘Vox
Humana’ and the next album too. Please read Sam’s statement below:
“It is with regret that I must announce my departure from Kyros. The band has been a massive part of my life over the last 6 years, and I am very proud of the things we have done in that time. I still love the music we made, as well as the direction the band is taking it moving forward, and the guys remain amongst my dearest friends, but sadly it is time for me to move on. The inherent challenges of working with a band with members spread so far across the country and beyond, have simply become incompatible with my day to day life, and too often these challenges have clouded the joy of being a band and making music, as well as distracting me from other sources of joy in my life.
Moving forward, my primary focus is on my music teaching, my family, and friends. In addition to this, there are new creative projects on the horizon, which I am very excited to start bringing into fruition. I wish Kyros all success and happiness moving forward, and know that they will carry on taking the music to places I could never have seen coming!”
Sam’s last performance with us was our appearance at
Veruno’s 2DaysProg+1 Festival back in September. Following much
discussion regarding how to move forward, we have decided to carry on as
a four-piece with Joey taking on full guitar responsibilities and with
that, our debut as a four-piece will take place at the UK Prog Invasion
Fest at Duycker in Holland next month. We wish Sam all the very best in
his future endeavours. Let’s wish him all the very best of luck!
US band, Edge of Reality, has been an ongoing venture for many years, initially instigated by Joey Frevola (Kyros) back when he was still in high school. He revived the band in 2014 and the same year they released their debut album, “Elephant in My Pajamas” by some critics described as a meeting of minds between Snarky Puppy and Haken. Some line-up alterations later and a second album, “Vicious Circle” was released. Following this, the band has released a couple of singles, self-released just like their albums, and a third studio album is planned for a 2018 release. Current band members are Brandon Center (drums), Jesse Brock (vocals), Jesse Peck (guitars), Joey Frevola (guitars) and Nick Mills (bass).
The band describes their music as being eclectic art metal, and that is, in fact, a useful indication about what to expect from this band. Like so many younger prog bands these days, they do like to have a go with both harder riffs and majestic riff and keyboard arrangements, but they are just as fond of shifting towards a more atmospheric laden, neo-progressive sound as well as quirkier details closer to the likes of Bent Knee. Complete with the occasional detours into jazzier landscapes.
We do like to sign and support our homegrown bands at RoSfest, documenting to our fellow Americans as well as to our faithful visitors that Made in America is still a mark of quality. Edge of Reality is a fine addition to the roster of homegrown progressive rock bands and we expect them to stimulate your musical palate once they hit the stage. RoSfest 2019 will take place on May 3rd through May 5th, 2019 at the Sarasota Opera House, Florida.
The final line-up and schedule for the festival are still TBA. Confirmed bands to appear so far are Riverside, Karmamoi, and Traverser.
News of the sold out Summer’s End Festival – which takes place at the Drill Hall, Chepstow from 6-8 October 2017.
We are very pleased to announce that brilliant young London band Kyros will replace Southern Empire, who have had to withdraw from the festival following the cancellation of their 2017 European Tour. Kyros will play on the afternoon of Sunday 8th October.
KYROS (known as Synaesthesia 2012-2015) formed in 2012 in London, England and consists of Adam Warne on lead vocals and keyboards, Joey Frevola and Sam Higgins on guitar, Peter Episcopo on bass guitar and Robin Johnson on drums. The band display influences ranging from eighties pop – e.g. Depeche Mode and Kate Bush – through to modern post-progressive and alternative rock music such as Muse and Porcupine Tree.
Twice featured as “tips for the top” by Prog magazine, their double album Vox Humana has had rave reviews worldwide, and in May the band made their second appearance at the prestigious Rosfest festival in the USA.
Festival Founder Huw Lloyd-Jones says:
“Kyros are one of the best young bands in prog, and this slot on the Sunday afternoon of the festival will allow them to really showcase what they can do to a sell-out audience. We can’t wait for everyone to experience their live show.”
Summer’s End 2017 is sold out, however we will announce the full line up of our sister festival – the Winter’s End Progressive Rock Festival which is also at the Drill Hall, Chepstow on 27-29 April 2018 -in early July 2017. Leap of Faith tickets remain on sale via www.winters-end.co.uk, but will come off sale just before we announce the line up.
Roldan Entertainment are happy to announce the return of UK band KYROS to ROSfest 2017!
For those of you who don’t recognize the band name, they performed with us as Synaesthesia in 2015.
This young British band went down a storm when they played for us in 2015, both their music as well as their performance making them one of the standout bands of the festival. Not too long after their ROSfest appearance, the band chose to sever ties with their record label, subsequently releasing an EP that marked both their transition between band names as well as their first independently released production.
Come 2016, KYROS returned with the double album “Vox Humana,” opting to again release independently. Fans and critics alike have been heralding its superior quality, and when we had the chance to book them for ROSfest 2017 we jumped at the opportunity. We said that this was a band that would be going places when we booked them the first time around, and from what we can see and hear that prediction is as sound in 2017 as it was in 2015.
Adam Warne, Sam Higgins, Joey Frevola, Robin Johnson, and Peter Episcopo are a very talented group of young men that together form KYROS. We have selected them to play on the first slot on Friday, to open the festival in 2017.
