KAYAK Inks Worldwide Deal with Inside Out Music & Announce Release Date for “Seventeen”!
Legendary Dutch progressive rock band KAYAK has signed a worldwide deal with InsideOutMusic! The band’s seventeenth studio album is entitled “Seventeen” and is now set for release on January 12th, 2018.
Currently being busy mixing “Seventeen”, the band’s mastermind Ton Scherpenzeel comments: “KAYAK are excited about signing to IOM, and are looking forward to a long lasting and successful collaboration. The combination of the band with an almost complete new line up, and a new record company seems very promising and will hopefully open new doors for us!”
Originally, the album’s release was already announced for October 2017 and a presale is available via KAYAK’s official website. It remains valid but due to the new record deal, these pre-orders will befulfilled in early 2018 when InsideOutMusic officially releases “Seventeen”.
Now, with singer Bart Schwertmann and guitarist Marcel Singor joining Ton Scherpenzeel as the band’s creative core and additional members Kristoffer Gildenlöw (bass / ex Pain Of Salvation) and Collin Leijenaar (drums / Affector, Neal Morse, Dave Bainbridge), a reborn KAYAK once again proves that the band’s name -though chosen randomly back in 1972 -is as appropriate as ever. Just when everyone expects the boat to sink, it miraculously resurfaces and sails on.

KAYAK tekent wereldwijde platendeal met InsideOutMusic; bekendmaking release date “Seventeen”!
De legendarische Nederlandse progressieve rockband KAYAK heeft een wereldwijd contract afgesloten met InsideOutMUsic! Het zeventiende studio album van de band heet ‘Seventeen’ en de release is gepland voor 12 Januari 2018.
Bandleider Ton Scherpenzeel, die momenteel druk bezig is met de mix van ‘Seventeen’, laat weten: “KAYAK is opgetogen over het contract met IOM, en we zien uit naar een langdurige en succesvolle samenwerking. De combinatie van een bijna volledig nieuwe line up en een nieuwe platenmaatschappij is veelbelovend en opent hopelijk nieuwe deuren voor ons!”
Oorspronkelijk zou het album in oktober 2017 verschijnen, en via de Kayak website/shop is de CD voor te bestellen. Dat kan nog altijd, echter zal door het nieuwe contract pas begin januari 2018 met de verzending worden begonnen, wanneer InsideOutMusc ‘Seventeen’ officieel uitbrengt.
Nu, met vocalist Bart Schwertmann en gitarist Marcel Singer samen met Ton Scherpenzeel in de kernbezetting van de band, aangevuld met Kristoffer Gildenlöw (bas/ ex Pain of Salvation) en Collin Leijenaar (drums/ Affector, Neal Morse, David Bainbridge) bewijst een herboren Kayak dat de destijds i1972 nogal toevallig gekozen bandnaam toepasselijker is dan ooit. Juist wanneer iedereen denkt dat het bootje zal zinken, komt het op wonderbaarlijke wijze weer boven water en vaart het verder.
