On “Black Friday” Record Store Day, 25th November, Parlophone will release a Christmas themed Jethro Tull 7 inch EP featuring my new mix of Ring Out Solstice Bells, and a substantially different version of the song called Magic Bells, which was produced by Mike Batt for a potential single, but never released. These mixes were done especially for the EP, but will also form part of a complete remix project based around the Songs From the Wood album, in progress and planned for some time next year. In the meantime Stand Up is the next release in the Jethro Tull remix series, out a week before the EP on 18th November.

The ultimate way to enjoy Yes’s most controversial album!
The towering Tales From Topographic Oceans is the fifth in a series of remixed and expanded Yes albums.
Presented in a 2 x mini vinyl replica gatefold card sleeves in a slipcase with booklet featuring new sleeve notes by Sid Smith along with rare photos and archive material, the album has been mixed for 5.1 Surround Sound from the original studio masters and is fully approved by Yes.
The 3 CDs feature a 2016 mix of the album by Steven Wilson plus an alternative extended Dance of the Dawn (mixed from multi-track by SW) and 5 single edits. The CDs also include a complete alt. album with High The Memory (unreleased studio run-through) and Ritual (live in Zurich, April 1974) – fully restored audio from original sources.
The booklet includes elements of new interviews with Jon Anderson, Steve Howe and Alan White.
The blu-ray (Region 0, NTSC) features:
– 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio Surround (24bit/96khz) mixed from the original multi-channel recordings.
– the new stereo album mix in DTS-HD Master Audio (24bit/96khz).
– the original album mix in a DTS-HD Master Audio flat transfers from the original master tape source. (24bit/192khz). We believe this is the earliest master of the original mix to be issued in the digital era. (This master was also used for the original stereo on the CDs).
– full alt. album featuring: sides 1 and 3 from the 2003 Rhino CD, previously unreleased studio run-through of Side 2 and previously unreleased live version of Side 4.
– exclusive needle-drop of an original UK vinyl pressing transferred in 24bit/96khz audio and US branded promo pressing.
– exclusive instrumental versions of all new mixes in DTS-HD Master Audio stereo (24bit/96khz).
– 2016 stereo and 5.1 remix of Dance of the Dawn plus 5 single edits (stereo only) all mixed from multi-track by Steven Wilson.
Original artwork expanded, restored and approved by Roger Dean.
“I worked on and off for about 3 years on this new mix in my quest to do it justice. I hope it will satisfy the people who agree with me that it may just be Yes’s pre-eminent masterpiece.” Steven Wilson

Released today on CD for the first time, Transience features songs recorded between 2003-2015, and is an introduction to the more accessible side of my music. It was originally released on vinyl in September last year with 12 songs I selected from solo albums (including several exclusive edits), and a new partly-live version of “Lazarus”, a song originally recorded by Porcupine Tree. I’ve also taken the liberty of adding “Happiness III” from the recently release 4 ½ mini album, since it fits the concept.
Coincidentally I’m reminded that both Lazarus and Happiness III were written back in 2003-04 for what would have been (had that film ever been made) the soundtrack to the Deadwing film script I wrote with my friend Mike Bennion, along with other songs such as Collecting Space, and Arriving Somewhere But Not Here, and various other instrumental pieces.
Transience is available as a digipack CD, and in digital form to download or stream.

Ian Anderson is presenting JETHRO TULL this October on the West Coast in Las Vegas, San Diego, Riverside, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, Modesto, Folsom, San Jose, Portland, Spokane, and Seattle.

Here’s more information on the west coast tour JETHRO TULL Written and Performed by Ian Anderson.
Ian celebrates the life and times of English agriculturalist Jethro Tull with a narrative set in the near future. The show presents some of the best known songs from the repertoire of the band Jethro Tull.
In JETHRO TULL, Ian touches on topical issues including including climate change, intensive food production and population growth. New material specially written for this show includes “Prosperous Pasture,” “Fruits Of Frankenfield,” “And The World Feeds Me,” “Stick, Twist, Bust,” and “The Turnstile Gate.”
JETHRO TULL features amongst many Tull favorites “Heavy Horses,” “Farm On The Freeway,” “Songs From The Wood,” “Aqualung,” “Living In The Past,” “Wind-Up,” “The Witch’s Promise” and “Locomotive Breath” including STAND UP’s “A New Day Yesterday.”
Some songs will have slightly re-written lyrics to better tell the tale.
The show has already played in the UK, Italy, Spain, Russia, Brazil, Argentina and the US to widely encouraging reviews. Chicago Concert Reviews’ Andy Argyrakis notes the two distinctive “but satisfying ways” to view JETHRO TULL, accept it at its highly conceptual face value, as a multi-media biography of the real Jethro Tull, a British agriculturist and inventor, but uploaded into a new context of contemporary issues such as global warming, food production and population growth” and to “simply enjoy it as a characteristically exceptional Tull concert” with “some choice rarities and lesser-known material — as well as some solid new songs.”
Ian is accompanied by David Goodier (bass), John O’Hara (keyboards), Florian Opahle (guitar), Scott Hammond (drums) and surprise virtual guests on screen including Ryan O’Donnell who shared the stage with Ian in recent tours for HOMO ERRATICUS and THICK AS A BRICK and Icelandic singer/violinist/actress Unnur Birna Björnsdóttir who appears on screen throughout the show.
