Formed in 1968 by Jon Anderson and the late, and much-missed, Chris Squire, YES have been one of the most innovative, influential and best-loved bands in rock music history. Their 1970s albums The Yes Album, Fragile, Close to the Edge, Yessongs (a triple live album set), Tales From Topographic Oceans, Relayer and Going For The One were ground-breaking in musical style and content. Their music also became synonymous with artist Roger Dean whose distinctive YES logo design and artwork adorned the lavish gatefold presentation sleeves of many YES albums.

With sales of over 50 million records, the Grammy-award winning YES were inducted into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 2017 where they performed Roundabout from the album Fragile and the FM radio-friendly Owner Of A Lonely Heart from the 1985 album 90125.  In 2021 YES released their 22nd Studio album, The Quest, produced by Steve Howe, which went to No.1 in the UK rock chart and entered the Official UK Album Chart at No. 20.

Dave KerZner All Star Band, Steps Up To Round Out RoSFest as Sunday Headliner

Music. Culture. Community.

The festival’s motto. And never could it have proved to be more appropriate than now.

When King’s X found themselves forced to cancel, after realizing that even daily physio was not going to suffice to get Ty Tybor’s fret finger back into good enough shape to prepare properly for their performance at this year’s RoSFest, the festival organizers found themselves in a bit of a fix.

But ‘community’ is a keyword for the annual Rites Of Spring Festival, and a group of musicians, captained by Dave Kerzner stepped up to ensure that the weekend’s entertainment would not be marred by a gaping hole in the line-up.

Sunday night’s headliner spot will now feature Dave KerZner and his newly formed All Star Prog Band featuring world-famous session man, Fernando Perdomo (Carmine Appice, Out to Sea, Echo in the Canyon…), Durga McBroom (Pink Floyd, Steve Hackett, Blue Pearl…), Billy Sherwood (Yes, Arc of Life, Circa, Asia…), Nick D’Virgilio (Big Big Train, Spock’s Beard, The Fringe, Genesis…). Dave also promises to surprise the audience with a magnificent set-list and a few surprises and special guests.

MUSIC. CULTURE. COMMUNITY. Yes Legend Jon Anderson with the Paul Green Rock Academy headlining RoSFest 2022

Since taking up the reins of RoSFest, the new Board of Directors has frequently reiterated its desire to take the festival forward for many years into the future. Its motto “Music. Culture. Community” represents the foundations on which the festival is built and the Saturday night headlining act was specifically chosen to epitomise just what RoSFest stands for by bringing together the past, present and future of music in a single performance. Jon Anderson, a rock legend in his own right, with a career spanning over four decades, will be joined on stage by young and highly-talented musicians from the Paul Green Rock Academy. In Jon’s own words “Paul Green is such a character… he’s a real sweetheart, but he really drives them. He gets them Since taking up the reins of RoSFest, the new Board of Directors has frequently reiterated its desire to take the festival forward for many years into the future. Its motto “Music. Jon Anderson, a rock legend in his own right, with a career spanning over four decades, will be joined on stage by young and highly talented musicians from the Paul Green Rock Academy.

Jon Anderson requires little introduction, a founding member of Yes, his entire discography includes numerous solo albums and collaborations with a whole array of artists making him one of the most prolific musicians of our time. His 15th studio album released in 2019 and aptly titled ‘1000 Hands’ due to the numerous guest appearances that went into its creation, embodies a musical journey like no other.

The Rock Academy on the other hand is a “rock school dedicated to serious musicians” founded by American record producer, film producer, director, screenwriter, singer-songwriter, music teacher, entrepreneur, and philanthropist, Paul Green.  Students aged 10-18 are selected based on their dedication to music, showmanship, love of performing, and ability to rock with actual pros.

Jon Anderson’s collaboration with the Academy dates back to 2005 and together they recently concluded an 11-city tour in the U.S.

Fresh Off US Tour with Jon Anderson of Yes, The Paul Green Rock Academy is Expanding and Holding Auditions for New Students

We are looking for ambitious, curious, and hard-working young musicians!

Have you ever dreamed of performing live on stage with a famous musician? The Paul Green Rock Academy (PGRA) makes that dream come true!

The Paul Green Rock Academy (PGRA) is the latest company from Master Teacher, Paul Green, and is the only rock school dedicated to serious musicians. Having just completed an incredibly successful tour with Rock & Roll Hall of Fame artist, Jon Anderson of Yes, the school is accepting new students and opening new locations to provide more opportunities to more young musicians.

The program at PGRA offers an immersive music education for students between the ages of 12 and 18 who are selected by audition for their musical prowess, showmanship, dedication, ambition, and ability to share the stage with professional musicians as they tour the world.

Paul Green has been teaching music to students of all ages for over 30 years. He is the original founder of School of Rock, but PGRA is his dream school, as he teaches only students determined to learn. At PGRA, all the teaching is done by Paul, and the students have incredible opportunities to tour, play with amazing guest artists, and to get a proper and focused music education designed to prepare them to become professional musicians.

In the summer of 2019, their students opened for Yes legend Jon Anderson’s “1000 Hands” show, leading Jon to want to restart the tradition of playing shows with PGRA students and eventually to the summer tour they just completed (which was rescheduled from 2020 due to the Covid virus).

Jon enjoyed this summer tour so much that he wants to tour with PGRA again in 2022. The plan is to do 30-40 shows with Jon in 2022, all over the US but also internationally (Europe) if Covid restrictions allow.

Boy oh boy what a special treat it was for us all…27 teens on the first leg, then 25 on the second…they were all magnificent and a joy to be around…

Paul Green, bless him, is a master of getting things done…the teens were shy, yet wild and crazy beautiful…but Paul made sure the shows worked…like the perfect storm…they all played their hearts out and put on a very wonderful show every time…

We gotta do it again…be well…be safe…

love and ‘light’…” – Jon Anderson

Currently, with locations in Philadelphia PA and Wilton CT, Paul Green Rock Academy plans to open four additional locations in Brooklyn, Fairfield CT, Wexford PA (suburban Pittsburgh), and Lancaster PA. Plans for the 2022 tour, along with some interest from some other legendary artists, including a very big name in the punk rock world, have both necessitated and provided the opportunity for expansion. The student limit is determined by the number of students per instrument and the number of good shows that the school can supply for the students.

Students who join PGRA’s program can expect to play up to 40 shows per year with the school, including a tour in the summer.

PGRA is currently looking for ambitious, curious, and hard-working young musicians! Audition now and let the Paul Green Rock Academy make your rock dreams come true!

Tony Kaye launches Flight 11 – 1st track from End of Innocence his story of 9/11 out 10th Sept

11th August 2021: Tony Kaye today releases Flight 11 as the first track from his forthcoming debut solo album End Of Innocence on Spirit Of Unicorn Music (distributed via Cherry Red Records). Listen to the track here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PWFP4U46NkU
The former YES keyboard legend was moved to commit his thoughts and feelings to a heartfelt personal musical interpretation following the terrible events of 9/11. End Of Innocence is a requiem for those who lost their lives and all those touched by those horrific events, a powerful and emotional suite, both beautiful and sinister, reflecting the dark forces at work that day.
The drama of that fateful day began when terrorists seized control of American Airlines’ Flight 11 from Boston to LA. This track reflects the struggles on board, portrayed by Jay Schellen’s (CIRCA, YES) dynamic drum solo and the plaintive calls made to the tower by flight attendants Amy Sweeney and Betty Ong, before the plane was flown into the North Tower of the World Trade Centre.
Kaye’s response to 9/11 was to retrieve his keyboards, stored away in his garage for 5 years having retired from the music business, and begin to interpret his feelings in the only way he knew, through his music.
“I’ve been friends with Jay Schellen from YES for a long time,” said Tony Kaye, “and reconnected on the 50th anniversary in 2018 when I came back into the band for a little while. So, I asked him to help on this track depicting the scene inside the planes. I wanted a drum solo – Jay’s just the guy to do that – and it includes the conversations stewardesses had with the tower. It was an emotional track and Jay did great drums on it.
“I lost friends,” Kaye adds. “I knew a lady who was on one of the planes. It made it personal, knowing that she was on the plane.”
End Of Innocence is released in CD Format on 10th September 2021 via Spirit Of Unicorn Music (distributed through Cherry Red Records) to mark the 20th anniversary of 9/11.
