To the very day, Premiata Forneria Marconi (aka PFM) is considered the most influential and respected Italian rock band and on October 27th, 2017 InsideOutMusic will release the band’s new studio album “Emotional Tattoos”. Now, the band reveals the album’s striking cover artwork created by Stefano Bonora / Artkademy.
The band comments: “On the cover you see a fantastic spaceship run by Franz and Patrick, bringing the band to places never explored before, introducing the audience into the new PFM world, where music has not only one identity but evolves and embraces many genres. PFM is famous for never repeating previous records and “Emotional Tattoos” is an album that will leave emotions on the skin, like when a spaceship lands in a fantastic world with vegetation and animals in harmony with each other.”
PFM began writing their new opus in 2016, started recording in early 2017 and finished both an English and Italian version of the over an hour long record in July at Metropolis Recording Studio with Alessandro Marcantoni.

PFM is a very eclectic and exuberant musical group with a distinctive style that impressively combines rock, progressive, and classical music into one mesmerizing sonic entity. Formed in 1970, the band quickly gained a prominent place on the international scene by making it to the Billboard charts (for 1973’s “Photos Of Ghosts”) and winning a gold record in Japan while constantly ruling the charts in their home country until today. PFM were honored with position #50 in the “UK Classic Rock Hall of Fame” of the 100 most important artists in the world as well as being awarded two gold records in their home country in 1971 and 1997.
“Emotional Tattoos” marks the return of the band’s trademark sound after two rather experimental releases. The new album takes a melodic rock route while offering surprising musical twists and turns including moody synths, orchestral arrangements, straight-forward guitar-driven passages and wonderful ballads.
The album can already be pre-ordered in the following formats from the official InsideOutMusic online store:

Limited Gatefold transparent orange 2LP+CD – Italian vinyl & Italian CD – limited to 500 copies

August 17, 2017 – Globetrotting guitarist extraordinaire, JEFF KOLLMAN (BOMBASTIC MEATBATS, ALAN PARSONS LIVE PROJECT, ASIA feat. JOHN PAYNE), is making his long-awaited return to Japan with his celebrated progressive rock trio COSMOSQUAD in support of their new album, “The Morbid Tango”, with shows in Osaka, Nagoya, and Tokyo starting this Friday. Kollman is also set to reunite with the ‘Voice of Rock’, GLENN HUGHES (DEEP PURPLE, TRAPEZE, BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION), for a string of special shows in Australia and New Zealand in September and October. In addition, Kollman has announced the remastered re-issue of his acclaimed third solo album, “Shedding Skin”, originally released in 1999.
States Kollman: “Well, back on the road after squeezing in some family vacation time in the Midwest. No rest for the wicked as they say! Extremely excited to finally get back over to Japan with COSMOSQUAD and playing “The Morbid Tango” material for the fans. Osaka, Nagoya, Tokyo – here we come! Also, in case you haven’t heard yet, I’ll be joining ‘Big Daddy’ GLENN Hughes for a half dozen shows in Australia and New Zealand in September and into early October. Looking forward to re-connecting on stage – it’s been quite a while since we last played together but Glenn is always amazing to work with. We will perform full concerts of classic DEEP PURPLE material. So many great tracks on “Burn”, “Stormbringer”, and “Come Taste The Band”. Glenn and Purple fans will be in for a real treat! And in-between those two treks I’ll be doing ASIA and a pair of ROCK PACK shows – those are always fun to do. How could it not when you’re standing next to singers like Lou Gramm, Steve Augeri, Bobby Kimball, and John Payne playing some of the most iconic rock songs ever written? – Last but not least, I’m finally getting around to putting my third solo album, “Shedding Skin”, back in print. I just got the re-mastered master back from Borislav Dimitrov at HiZ Productions who also mastered “The Morbid Tango” for us, and it’s sounding killer! The official release date is Friday, September 1.”

Haken Release New Video ‘Lapse’ In Advance Of North American Tour
Haken are set to hit the road in North America later this month for their Haken 10th Anniversary Tour. In advance of that, the band have released a brand new animated video for the track ‘Lapse’, taken from last year’s critically acclaimed album ‘Affinity’ and created by Miles Skarin at Crystal Spotlight.
Continued Below Video
The band comments:
“Lapse was one of the first tracks we wrote for Affinity. Now more than a year since the album’s release, it’s great to finally give this song a chance to stand out on its own, as it’s one of our favorites!”
The band continues
“Visually, we wanted to maintain a consistency with our videos for ‘Initiate’, ‘Earthrise’ and ‘The Endless Knot’, so we returned to Miles Skarin at Crystal Spotlight to complete the series. The video incorporates a 3D motion capture technique (previously used on Frost*’s ‘Numbers’ video) to tie in with Affinity’s themes of artificial intelligence/consciousness.”

Now in their 48th year, King Crimson will be returning to America in the Fall of 2017! The new dates see the group performing in some states and cities that have not been visited in a while. Atlanta, Georgia, for example, last had live Crimson music in 2001, while Texas has experienced something of an epic Crimson drought since 1974, not counting ProjeKct Three’s week-long residency in the Lone Star state during March 1999.
With three drummers up front including Pat Mastelotto, Gavin Harrison and Jeremy Stacey, as well as the return of multi-instrumentalist Bill Reiflin on keyboards, guitarist, and original founding member, Robert Fripp, states that this “double quartet formation” is likely to make more noise than ever before. Rounding out the eight piece line up is guitarist and vocalist Jakko Jakszyk, longtime bassist Tony Levin, and saxophonist Mel Collins, who was a mainstay of Crim from 1970-1972.
As well as standard tickets, the band’s label, DGM, also has announced the sale of VIP Royal Packages, limited to just 60 per show. Details can be viewed at the label’s interactive and recently redeveloped website, www.dgmlive.com.
Here’s what the press have raved about King Crimson’s Summer 2017 North American tour:
“On our final evening at the festival, we were witness to the concert that inevitably proved to be its highlight…The blend of mood, melody, ambiance, and atmosphere dazzled the audience, which responded with frequent standing ovations.” – Lee Zimmerman, Goldmine Magazine
“Complex musical structures, the power, the intensity and the flight of guitars, flutes and especially drums, the progressive rock of King Crimson unfolded like never…With a dense and complex performance that perfectly coincided with the title of the tour entitled Radical Action, King Crimson took over all the years of his long career, offered new material and transported the music lovers to their rich universe and especially without compromise.” – YVES LECLERC, Journal de Quebec
“Fripp and his band offered an impeccable performance in two stages. No melodies, no flapping, only musicians at the top of their art.” – IAN BUSSIÈRES La Presse, Quebec
“The band finally reaps all that it has sown in its many transformations…the company of the good old days got its money’s worth! In short, the king is not dead, far from it, and they still rejoice.” – Réjean Beaucage, Voir.ca
There was an undeniable nostalgic thrill to these songs, but considering the unconventional setup and the band’s longstanding aversion to living in the past, they weren’t presented as museum pieces…this remained a celebration from a band that has found a way to honor the scope of its legacy without abandoning its avant-garde principles. Crimson has never sounded more complete, or more joyous, on stage than it does now.” – Jordan Zivitz, Montreal Gazette
“The eclectic set list covered the bands forty plus years, beginning with 1973’s ‘Larks’ Tongues in Aspic, Part One’ earmarked by one of several Mel Collins’ exemplary solos, then jumped a decade later for the fluid ‘Neurotica’ with Fripp’s hyperkinetic guitar riffs perched alongside a dizzying high tempo jazz beat. The uniqueness of seeing each of these seasoned musicians working is near indescribable and has to be experienced live, to fully embrace their vision – think of eight master painters working in their own style, but on a common canvas, and you begin to get the idea of things.” – We Heart Music, Minneapolis
“As part of their 17-show ‘Radical Action Tour 2017,’ King Crimson made a stop at the Greek Theatre for what can only be succinctly described as nearly three hours of absolute musical bliss — subtle and pastoral on one hand, a cacophony of sonic thrusts on the other.” – Shawn Perry Vintage Rock
“While their strong EP of new originals ‘Heroes,’ (in tribute to David Bowie) has devoted fans pleased and open-eared, it’s the rarities from the back catalog that haven’t been played in decades or ever that make this tour’s lineup exceptionally strong. Astounding as it was, King Crimson still has the propensity to tackle songs from all over their vast catalog, while incessantly adding new intersections and elements.” – Dylan Muhlberg, Grateful Web
In other news:
The band has recently released “The Elements Of King Crimson 2017 Tour Box.” As with previous releases in the “Elements” series, the full variety of King Crimson’s music is presented over 2 CDs! Featuring extracts from rehearsals, new live recordings, elements from studio recordings, full tracks, alternate takes and finished recordings from 1969-2016, many of which make their first appearance on CD.
Every lineup is featured across the double CD set. Of particular interest on the new set is the inclusion on disc 2 of every part of “Larks’ Tongues in Aspic” (some studio, some live) from “Part I” to “Level 5” – interspersed with elements taken from the original studio sessions and rehearsals.
Packaged in a DVD-sized fold out digipak style book case with a 24-page booklet including sleeve notes by co-compiler Sid Smith, photos of memorabilia, full info about the 2016 tour and a number of band and individual photos of the current band line-up. http://shop.schizoidshop.com/the-elements-of-king-crimson—2017-tour-box-p1670.aspx
Also, coinciding with the first leg of the tour, King Crimson released a CD EP titled “Heroes – Live In Europe, 2016.” Recorded in Berlin during the band’s 2016 European tour., the EP was released on June 2nd, 2017 and, along with “The Elements Of King Crimson 2017 Tour Box,” can be ordered via the shops at www.dgmlive.com as well as available through traditional retail outlets. Following their successful South American tour, Renaissance featuring Annie Haslam will be back in the US Northeast in October and November 2017 debuting their “Symphonic Journey” tour. This tour will include four very special concerts featuring a “10-piece Chamber Orchestra” (a handpicked assemblage of strings, woodwinds, brass, and percussion); October 26th at the Ridgefield Playhouse in Ridgefield CT, October 27th at the Keswick Theater in Glenside PA, Town Hall in New York City October 28th and The Egg in Albany NY on October 29th. These performances will be the first time in 40 years that Renaissance will perform on stage with a “live” orchestra and, in addition, 2017 marks the 48th year since the band’s formation and its ninth consecutive year of touring since their reactivation in 2009.
Plans are currently being made for the group to film the October 27th Keswick Theatre show for an upcoming DVD release, which will follow the success of their 2015 London Union Chapel DVD. Additional tour performances without the chamber orchestra are currently being scheduled. A crowd funding campaign has been started to raise the significant funds to produce the new live DVD
Renaissance leader and vocalist, Annie Haslam remarks, “The band keeps getting stronger and stronger and the addition of the chamber orchestra will be the most exciting event for the band in years. This addition of ‘live’ orchestral musicians will add an incredible dynamic to our big numbers like ‘Mother Russia,’ ‘Carpet Of The Sun’ and ‘Song For All Seasons,’ all of which included an orchestra on the original recordings.”
Ms. Haslam will be joined on stage by long time musical associate Rave Tesar on piano along with Tom Brislin on keyboards, Mark Lambert on guitars, Frank Pagano on drums and percussion, and Leo Traversa on bass.

Renaissance is a band with a rich history unique unto themselves as progressive rock pioneers who rose from the ashes of the seminal UK rock band, The Yardbirds. Acclaimed for their unique blending of progressive rock with classical and symphonic influences, the band’s career has spanned forty plus years spearheaded by the 5-octave voice of Annie Haslam and the masterful songwriting skills of Michael Dunford. They are widely considered to be the band that most successfully and routinely utilized the sound of a full orchestra in their recordings.
The band has toured throughout the world and has performed at Carnegie Hall with the New York Philharmonic Orchestra and additionally at the Royal Albert Hall with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Royal Chorale Society. Renaissance had a top ten hit in the UK with their song Northern Lights that still demands airplay to this day.
