Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess signs to InsideOutMusic for new solo album; launches collaboration with MOISES

InsideOutMusic are pleased to announce their signing of legendary Dream Theater keyboardist Jordan Rudess for a brand-new solo album to be released later in 2024. This announcement coincides with an exciting new collaboration between Jordan and Moises, an immersive AI-powered creation tool for musicians.

Jordan is currently putting the finishing touches to the album, which features renowned drummer Darby Todd (Devin Townsend, The Darkness) as well as classically trained vocalist Joe Payne (voted Best Male Vocalist two years running in the Prog Magazine Readers’ Poll) and is expected to release it in September 2024.

Jordan comments on the signing and forthcoming album: “I knew I was going to have some time off after the last Dream Theater tour ended. Enough time to, hopefully, complete a new solo album. I wanted this album to push me to evolve a new compositional perspective. So, this album is my inaugural voyage into crafting a solo album with a dedicated vocalist in mind. Joe Payne’s vocals inspired me from the first time I heard him and drummer, Darby Todd, has infused each track with his distinctive style. I’m also stepping into uncharted instrumental territory, playing guitar on a few tracks. Another first, my daughter, Ariana, has penned all the lyrics for this album. We’ve worked closely together, ensuring that each lyric weaves a story and allows Joe’s beautiful voice to soar. Proud Dad here. All around this album is a testament to collaboration and personal growth.”

InsideOutMusic label-head Thomas Waber adds: “Having worked alongside Jordan with Dream Theater for several years now, we are extremely pleased to be releasing his forthcoming new solo album. Jordan is an artist always at the cutting edge of technology, and we look forward to exploring that with his new music.”

As mentioned, this announcement coincides with an exciting new collaboration between Jordan Rudess & Moises under an ongoing series titled ‘Moises Jam Sessions’. From today, users of the platform can hear the first taste of brand new music in the form of the track ‘Embers’. Fans can use the app to remix the song, using the apps AI-powered tools like stem separation. As Jordan comments:

“My passion for pushing boundaries in music and technology has always been fierce. It’s this very passion that brought me to the incredible team at Moises. Their groundbreaking tools have become the cornerstone of my musical journey, powering my performances on stage and my in-studio explorations.”

The track features Jordan alongside the aforementioned Darby Todd & Joe Payne, as well as a guest guitar solo by Bastian Martinez. Here’s how to get started…

hows will be presented on StageIt. To participate, you must have a StageIt account. If you don’t yet have an account, here’s what to do:Go to stageit.com (on your laptop or desktop, the site is not mobile-friendly for accounting, but works on mobile for viewing/tipping)Click Sign Up (upper right corner)Create a username and passwordClick “Buy Notes” (10 notes = $1) – The StageIt system sells Notes in minimum intervals of $5 (50 Notes). After choosing how many Notes you want to purchase, choose your payment type – it’ll be credit card or PayPal (with PayPal, you do not need to have an account, you can use a credit/debit card as a guest).Go to the direct ticket link for ProgStock Presents to “follow” the ProgStock StageIt channel and to purchase tickets to the shows you want to watch. Feel free to contact us, if you have any issues. You will also be able to tip the artists before, during and after the shows with Notes. Consider loading up your account in advance, so you can have some fun with tipping while supporting your favorite artists. Many artists view tipping as applause from the audience, since they can see the colored bands appearing on their screen during the show – let them see you cheering!Pricing: With exceptions for special events, 45-minute shows will have a minimum ticket price of $4.00 (40 Notes) and 90-minutes shows will have a minimum ticket price of $8.00 (80 Notes), with prices in US Dollars. You can pay more, if you have the means, and you will also be able to tip during the show with your StageIt Notes. We encourage you to support the artists at this difficult time.

The individual performances on StageIt are separate shows. Audience members will purchase a ticket to each performance individually, not the whole night as a block. Some shows will be 45 minutes and others will be 90, so we may have as few as 3 shows or as many as 6 on each Saturday night.

StageIt is all about experiencing music in the moment, duplicating the live music experience as closely as possible. You have to be there to see it, just like you would in a venue, so shows are only available on their site during the performance window. Some of our artists may choose to capture their shows and make them available later on some other medium (Bandcamp, CD, DVD, etc.) and we (ProgStock) may even capture some of the shows, with artist permission, of course, but the shows will not be available on StageIt outside the show window.

Our 5-year Patrons get free tickets to all of the shows in the ProgStock Presents Virtual Series. If you are a 5-year Patron and you wish to take advantage of this free ticket offer, please email us at [email protected] to be put on the guest list for the shows. To find out more about becoming a 5-year Patron of ProgStock, click here.

Dream Theater Release 36 Second Video Teaser for Upcoming Album “Distance Over Time”

Dream Theater’s upcoming release, “Distance Over Time”, comes out in February 2019. To announce the details of the band’s most recent offering, Dream Theater has enlisted the help of fans to spread the word about the release and even to break the news of the record release date, cover artwork, and to share the first taste of never before heard music. With this album, a return to the band’s roots, Dream Theater hoped to create a fan engagement experience unlike any previously undertaken.

To lead into the initial release of material, an Alternate Reality Game was launched. This game encompassed a “treasure hunt” whereby fans were able to search for clues hidden in various photos, video, social media posts, and more. Cooperation to host the Alternate Reality Game focused on various fan communities. The band’s fan club, forum members and Reddit each brought in technical expertise to create puzzles for the participants. Each and every week, a new puzzle would be released, often in the form of a candid photo or video from the studio where Dream Theater recorded their latest album. This would contain a piece of the puzzle – a clue to be used in the process of solving that week’s mystery. The puzzles were usually based on some encryption scheme or hiding information in the files, such as hiding a zipped file with text in an image file or hiding text within the spectrogram of an audio file. One puzzle had the fans decoding Morse Code on a light diode of recording equipment, while another had the fans decoding a touch-tone number from a phone call. Fans had to solve a sonogram, sudoku puzzle, reverse engineer an encryption scheme to find a key that would decrypt a specific text. They had to solve crosswords and trivia games. Fans were eager to participate and often worked together to collectively solve the puzzles within hours of their release.

Ultimately, there would be one person – one fan who would be the first to solve the final clue. As their prize, this fan would be the first person to possess previously unreleased Dream Theater content. The very first person outside the band to have possession of any new music, new artwork, new album title. It would be the fans who would solve the puzzle, complete the game and break the news of the release, disseminating this brand new Dream Theater news to the world from their personal online presence.

It is the hope of Dream Theater to have created a fun and engaging fan experience. A unique manner to amp up the excitement for the new release, and to involve the band’s fanbase in a new and interesting way. On behalf of Dream Theater – congratulations to the winner, and thank you to everyone who participated.
