London – With The Pineapple Thief’s Dissolution Tour Part 2, due to begin on 21st February in Italy, the band have released a new video for the track “Threatening War”, from their critically acclaimed studio album Dissolution.
(Filmed & Directed by George Laycock , Blacktide Phonic/Visual – www.black-tide.co.uk )
Frontman, composer and guitarist, Bruce Soord on seeing director George Laycock’s interpretation of the song reflects “When I wrote the words for ‘Threatening War’, I had in my mind the journey from despair to hope, and how we need a physical connection with people in our lives to complete that journey, if and when it happens. When I saw how ‘Blacktide’ had tackled this visually it really hit home in a way I wasn’t quite prepared for. It captures the emotion of the song perfectly.”
The Pineapple Thief are due to begin the second leg of their European & UK Dissolution tour in February, have confirmed they will be taking new label mates O.R.k out as main support. The first leg of the tour in September included many sold out shows and their biggest show to date at London’s prestigious O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire and will once again be joined by now full-time member Gavin Harrison on all dates.

Their recently released album Dissolution has seen the band propelled to even greater heights, having gained a #1 position in the UK Rock Charts and #22 in the German national album charts. The band have garnered high praise across the worldwide media as can be seen in the small selection of review quotes below…
Prog Magazine – Album Of The Month – “a varied album that pulls together the band’s diverse styles into nine cerebral but very accessible songs” Kerrang Magazine – “Its existence makes the world a slightly better place” Total Guitar – “this is essential listening for fans of contemporary prog” Slam (DE) – “Just a beautiful, melancholy record, powerful and full of hymn-like harmonies” Lust for Life (NL) – “Dissolution ticks all the boxes” RockTribune (BE) – “an album to cherish” Rockerilla (IT) – “a beautiful album from the beginning to the end, where every track is a piece of a mosaic of enchanted sounds”
O.R.k., featuring Italy’s celebrated vocalist, producer and award-winning film score composer Lorenzo Esposito Fornasari a.k.a LEF (lead vocals), King Crimson’s Pat Mastelotto (drums), Porcupine Tree’s Colin Edwin (bass), Marta Sui Tubi’s Carmelo Pipitone (guitars) are ready to reveal the first single “Kneel To Nothing” from their forthcoming new album on Kscope – Ramagehead.

The track “Kneel To Nothing” emphasises the band’s bewilderment brought about by our modern world; a world of technological information overload, of uncertainty and post-truth messages. Songwriter Lef explains more “We’re not preaching, we’d rather leave the lyrics open to different interpretations, but I guess this is one possible interpretation of the ‘Kneel To Nothing’ lyrics.
“As musicians, we collaborate across the miles thanks to the internet, so it goes without saying we aren’t against technology in general, but at the same time, it’s unarguably clear that the same technology has successfully made its way inside our bodies (and lives) in a potentially dangerous way in the last 20 years.
“How we react to impulses, live our relationships, and feel in general has become deeply influenced by new tech. We all seem to be trying to outdo each other, we can’t get enough of this constant competition through social media, and it’s making us more insular in real life. We also place an innate trust in the strength of our senses, but in a evolutionary perspective, we could end up diminishing of all our senses due to our evolving lifestyle. We’re becoming too lazy to read an article – let alone a book, too bored to listen to a song that is longer than 3 minutes, and we relentlessly skip from one impulse to another without really feeling anything. In a way we’re therefore ‘slaves’. It’s not as spooky as the visionary movie directors from the past have pictured it, but it’s happening in a subtler, yet still potentially hazardous way. We have somehow we’ve become both devoted and addicted to our smart phones”
The forthcoming album Ramagehead was created from the band’s collective vision, unique influences and a multi-layered reflection of their powerful and engaging live experience. The resulting epic contains all the ingredients of a fiery O.R.k. performance with dark and heavy riffing, mesmeric atmospheres. Recorded during 2018 at LefMusicStudio (Italy), The Wormhole (USA) and Nightspace (UK). The mixing for Ramagehead was handled by Adrian Benavides and three-time Grammy-winning engineer Marc Urselli (U2, Foo Fighters, Nick Cave), the mastering by Michael Fossenkemper, engineering by Benavides and Bill Munyon (King Crimson), cover art by Adam Jones (TOOL) and design by Denis Rodier (Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman). The recordings, and involvement of SOAD’s Serj Tankian on a forthcoming single, solidifies the band’s serious intent to use their musical chemistry in exploring the hard-edged possibilities within rock.

O.R.k. have an extensive live campaign planned in support of Ramagehead which will begin in February 2019 with a European and UK head line run as well as being special guests on the continuing “Dissolution Tour” from new label mates The Pineapple Thief.
Colin Edwin comments “‘Ramagehead’ is our most intense, ambitious and accessible work to date and I am really looking forward to exploring the new material in a live environment and sharing our unique collective energy together. For me, O.R.k. is always a completely immersive and unforgettable experience in the live arena, so with new tracks to play and an opportunity to reach places and people we’ve yet to get to, this tour will be our best yet.”

O.R.k. are: Lorenzo Esposito Fornasari a.k.a LEF – lead vocals Pat Mastelotto – drums Colin Edwin – bass Carmelo Pipitone – guitars
The latest album from Welsh proggers Godsticks showed some changes in the band, as for the first time it sees them as a four-piece with drummer Tom Price, who replaces Steve Roberts (who had been in the band since 2010) and additional guitarist Gavin Bushell, which allows the band to be more aggressive and punchy than previously. They join Darran Charles (who also performed on The Pineapple Thief’s 2016 hit album ‘Your Wilderness’ and is part of their live touring band) who provides vocals and guitar along with bassist Dan Nelson. Lyrically, ‘Faced With Rage’ explores the theme of people dealing with emotional conflict in different scenarios, and who have a powerful desire to change their behavior or situation.
These guys are very much in the modern field of progressive rock, taking influences from Tool, Porcupine Tree, System of a Down, Radiohead and the aforementioned The Pineapple Thief and Bruce Soord. Actually, unless they’re careful they might even find themselves becoming beloved of the mainstream media as they are far more angular and indie rocky than one would normally think of with a prog act. With their approach and layering wall of sound there are also times when they come across as a more vibrant and energized Muse, and when listening to this I often find myself having closed my eyes and am just moving to the beat, not something one would normally expect from prog! I know I am late to the piece, as the album has already been out six months, but I am incredibly glad that I have finally heard it, as it is well worth investigating by anyone who has ever bemoaned that too many prog acts sound like Genesis.
I know it’s not healthy, but I’m really sorry – it’s just stronger than me.
I am very pleased to inform you that a brand-new music of lunatic soul will appear in the form of a new album (there, mini, or ep – let’s forget pleasantries – an album full of mouth just 🙂) already on may 25, 2018. The Graphic Robe Designed A very talented colleague, Jarek Kubicki, whose work I respect very much, and with whom I have already worked with the trio of mgds, recorded and helped with the picture of the whole as usual magda and Robert Srzedniccy of Warsaw Studio Serakos, in one of the songs on drums played Lorenzo Dramowicz, and I took care of myself. And you know what? It’s a very nice record. In the company of the previous one, which is ” fractured “, only now I have this image of the new ” Red ” Lunatic Soul I mean.
You can already order just have to look 🙂 I’ll throw links, it’s mark z. He’ll make sure max 4 people see it, so I’m just bragging… and I wish you a nice weekend!

announces new
According to a posting by Kscope
2018 studio release Under The Fragmented Sky marks the 10th anniversary of Lunatic Soul.
Lunatic Soul is Mariusz Duda, the talented creator, singer and multi-instrumentalist behind Riverside. Under The Fragmented Sky is Duda’s sixth studio album as Lunatic Soul and follows the acclaimed Fractured (both were recorded at the same time whilst Mariusz was facing tragic events in his personal life).
Under the Fragmented Sky rebuilds Lunatic Soul as we know it, with dark and haunting atmospheres coming to the forefront. Duda explains “Fractured was not a full picture of the latest Lunatic Soul recordings. These more classical pieces have been waiting for their own time which has now come.”
Recorded during the Fractured sessions and completed in early 2018, Under the Fragmented Sky is a supplement to Fractured as well being an artistically independent release with its own identity.
180g clear vinyl in gatefold. All orders through Burning Shed come with an exclusive digital download of the entire album from the release date (25th May)which will be available on the account page.
“Duda’s clearly endured, making real art out of his adversity.” – Classic Rock
“It’s often like the best film music… honours the Pink Floyd branches of the Porcupine Tree.” – Prog Magazine
