Glass Hammer has been teasing a Part Two of their 2000 release “Chronometree” for several weeks and it is now finally official. The tongue-in-cheek concept album “Chronometree” told the story of Tom, a prog-rock obsessed teenager in the late seventies who heard alien voices communicating to him through his favorite albums. Tom has since grown up and is apparently none-the-wiser. “Chronomonaut” will tell the story of his recent mid-life crises. Bassist and songwriter Steve Babb explains “Apparently, the voices have returned and have been urging Tom to time-travel back to the glory days of the early prog scene.”
“Chronomonaut” will be released on Friday, October 12th. Pre-ordering for autographed copies will begin one month ahead of the release on September 12th at the band’s website.
This is the band’s follow up to Valkyrie released in 2016, and the band’s 17th studio release since 1993. “Chronomonaut” will feature guest appearances include Discipline’s Matthew Parmenter and Chris Herin.”
Multi-instrumentalist and Prog Aficionado Johnny Ray of 3 Headed Snake, The Mourning, Ex. Aionios, Psyaxis has announced he has organized a new one-day Prog Festival to be held at The Verona in New Port Richey Florida. The Festival – Florida Progressive Rock and Metal Fest will feature bands from all over Florida such as Captain Colossal, Cosmic Roots Collective, Jupiter Groove, Jericho Siren (Debut), A Time Framed, Alpha Decay, The Mourning, and Silenmara.
Roldan Entertainment is happy to announce that US band Phideaux, has been signed to RoSFest for 2019.
Phideaux, the band as well as the main man in the band, are dedicated friends of RoSfest. Phideaux Xavier has actually attended most of our festivals as a guest. We sometimes forget that he is also an excellent progressive rock musician with a top-notch band backing him on stage. Those who remember back to 2011, will recall just how impressive this band is to see live.
Phideaux has been working for around a decade to follow up on his massive success album, “Doomsday Afternoon“, and in 2018 that album is finally here. It is called “Infernal“, and is at the CD pressing plant at the time this press release is written. This is an album that has been eagerly awaited by progressive rock fans worldwide, and we do presume that songs from this album will be at the core of the concert to be given at RoSfest 2019. All existing fans of Phideaux will see that as natural and expected. Obviously, he has a massive back catalog of excellent material to choose from as well, which will ensure a memorable concert experience.
For those who may not be familiar with Phideaux, he has been recording and releasing music since the early 1990’s, and with this year’s album, he has a total of ten studio albums to his name. He is something of an expert in creating atmospheric laden, symphonic progressive rock, often with darker, shimmering Floydian details amidst lighter toned, elegant overlays. His material tends to be developed over many years, and with an immaculate eye for perfection covering even minor, minute details. His last three studio albums, in particular, have been impressive, and expectations are high for the album he is about to launch. In addition, the live performances from him and his band are as impressive as the material found on the albums.
It has been too long since Phideaux last played at RoSfest and we thought it was high time that he returned for the 2019 edition. Especially as the long-awaited “Infernal” now is about to be released.
RoSfest 2019, will take place on May 3rd through 5th, 2019 at the Sarasota Opera House, Florida. The final line-up and schedule for the festival are still TBA. Confirmed bands to appear so far are Jethro Tull 50th Anniversary Tour with Martin Barre, Clive Bunker and, Jonathan Noyce, Riverside, Karmamoi, Edge of Reality, Entransient, & Traverser.

King Crimson is a band that continues to defy conventional expectations. As listeners to last year’s rush-released official bootleg from June 2017 recorded in Chicago discovered, this band gets better by the year. Given the amount of rehearsals, practicing, constantly expanding repertoire base (nearly six hours’ worth of material ready to select from on any given night), wealth of experience among musicians, technicians/sound crew, more comfortable traveling arrangements, better PA systems/mixing desks & the fact that the band is playing, for the most part, in purpose-built theatres rather than the more imaginatively named but sonically challenged venues that hosted rock gigs in previous decades, this should come as no surprise. But it does. Perhaps it’s still part of the Rock ‘n’ Roll myth – the “hope I die before I get old” thought process that seems forever associated with rock music that’s proved so difficult to alter. Whatever the reason, the concept of a band maturing, re-inventing itself and being able to present music from a lengthy history in recognizable but ever-changing ways, still with a same sense of wonder as if it were newly-written, remains, if not unique, certainly notable.
A few weeks after the Chicago concert, the first part of 2017’s tour reached its final destination – five nights of concerts in Mexico City. All of the concerts were recorded and filmed with a view to issuing a definitive document of Crimson live in 2017 and Meltdown is the result of that process. With over two hours of HD filmed performance and three hours of audio, Meltdown offers a comprehensive overview of a band at the very peak of its performing ability.
King Crimson’s Meltdown in Mexico will be released on September 28th and will be distributed by Amped Distribution.
