Founded in 1984 when singer Steve Overland and his brother, guitarist Chris (both formerly of Wildlife) teamed up with drummer Pete Jupp (ex-Wildlife and Samson) and bassist Merv Goldsworthy (ex-Diamond Head and Samson), the guys were soon joined by Didge Digital on keyboards and by December of that year, they had secured a recording contract with CBS/Portrait and headed to Germany for a run of dates with Meat Loaf.
Further tours with Tina Turner, Foreigner, and Gary Moore built their momentum and on September 8, 1986, FM released their debut album INDISCREET (featuring the hugely popular single “Frozen Heart”) to great critical acclaim. The year ended on a high with FM supporting the white-hot Bon Jovi on their “Slippery When Wet” tour.
For the next nine years, FM consolidated their position at the forefront of British melodic rock, touring extensively as headliners and also joining bands such as Status Quo and Whitesnake on tours to promote releases such as 1989’s TOUGH IT OUT, 1991’s TAKIN’ IT TO THE STREETS (with Andy Barnett on guitar replacing the now-departed Chris Overland); 1992’s APHRODISIAC and what was to be their ‘final’ album, 1995’s DEAD MAN’S SHOES with new recruit Jem Davis (Tobruk, UFO) on keyboards.
In 2007 – after a 12-year sabbatical – FM was persuaded to return to the stage for a ‘one-off’ headline performance at a sold-out Firefest IV at Nottingham Rock City. The rapturous reception from the fans at Firefest led to FM quickly making the decision to record a new album and following a return to Firefest in 2009, in March 2010 FM released their much-anticipated sixth studio album METROPOLIS with Jim Kirkpatrick replacing Andy Barnett on lead guitar.
The band hasn’t stopped since! Headline tours both in the UK and overseas, Special Guest slots touring with the likes of Foreigner, Journey, Thin Lizzy, Heart, Saxon and Skid Row, festival appearances including Download, Planet Rockstock, Sweden Rock, Graspop, Steelhouse Festival, Frontiers Rock Festival, Ramblin’ Man Fair and in 2018 their first-ever live show in the US at Melodic Rock Fest 5.
When not touring, FM has been busy in the studio and since their 2010 ‘comeback’ album they have released 2013’s ROCKVILLE and ROCKVILLE 2, HEROES AND VILLAINS in 2015 and ATOMIC GENERATION in 2018 along with INDISCREET 30 – a re-recorded version of their debut album – and THE ITALIAN JOB live CD/DVD.

American prog-rock quartet Thematic released their new album, Skyrunner a few weeks ago on Jan 31st, 2020.
Today, the band are pleased the share a play-through video for the track “The Last Boundary” from the upcoming album, which you can see here:
The band had this to say on the new video: “We filmed this playthrough video months ago before the album release and shortly after getting the final mixes from Forrester Savell. This was the first song we heard during the mixing process with Forrester. It definitely set the tone for how most of the production would turn out for the Skyrunner album. The Last Boundary is one the more progressive metal tracks on the album with a variety of time signature changes and grooves that will keep you guessing where this song will take you next.”
Producer Forrester Savell on the album: “Thematic’s new album ‘Skyrunner’ hooked me quickly with its emotive vocal lines and roller coaster dynamics”
Skyrunner is a concept album that tells of a hero’s quest to honor a promise. It is a tale of an epic journey through the fall from grace, the battle for redemption and the ultimate glory and tragedy of salvation. It is a story of honor and valor, of a tormented soul and his quest to restore the light of hope and love to a world and soul consumed by darkness. It is a story of a promise kept.

Neal Morse, Mike Portnoy, Randy George, Bill Hubauer & Eric Gillette, released their latest album ‘The Great Adventure’ at the beginning of 2019. This was the follow-up to their acclaimed 2016 concept album ‘The Similitude Of A Dream’, and shortly after the band embarked on a European headline tour. ‘The Great Adventour – Live in BRNO 2019’ documents these shows, which saw them performing the album in full, and closing with the renowned ‘The Great Medley’– featuring tracks from across Neal’s solo career and each Neal Morse Band album.
As Randy George explains: “After the Similitude tour, expectations were really high, and we had more people coming to these shows than ever before. People were really excited to see it, so we had to make sure that we delivered.”
Performing ‘The Great Adventure’ flawlessly and in its entirety 47 times in 2019, Neal Morse (vocals, keyboards and guitars), Mike Portnoy (drums, vocals and audience cheerleading), Randy George (bass), Bill Hubauer (keyboards and vocals) and Eric Gillette (guitars and vocals) brought audiences to their feet night after exhilarating night: “The tour delivered every night. We never got tired of playing it, and it always paid off”, says George.
One of the countries was the Czech Republic, and it was there in Brno that the band chose to film THE GREAT ADVENTOUR 2019 – LIVE IN BRNO, the definitive record of the tour, as George explains: “This was our first time playing in the Czech Republic and this venue had a different look and vibe: the audience also turned out to be very energetic. They loved it!”
THE GREAT ADVENTOUR 2019 – LIVE IN BRNO shows The Neal Morse Band at the very height of their powers: extraordinary, passionate, intense and intricate rock music played to perfection by five masters of their craft, backed by dramatic video illustrations by Christian Rios.
Available as a 2CD + 2Blu-Ray Digipak, the set also features two tour documentaries from both the US & European runs, as well as the official music videos for the singles taken from ‘The Great Adventure’.
Progressive rockers THE FLOWER KINGS released their highly successful studio double-album ‘Waiting For Miracles’ on InsideOutMusic in November 2019, played a European tour in December, and will embark on the Cruise to the Edge in late March. Widely met with critical acclaim, ‘Waiting For Miracles’ offers complex and intricate compositions, which also profit from drummer Mirkko DeMaio’s impressive performance and style.
He now invites you to check out his playthrough of the epic ‘Miracles For America’ and states: “I’ve recorded this the week right before leaving for Japan for two concerts with The Flower Kings, which have been a huge success! ‘Miracles For America’ is probably the most tricky song of the album ‘Waiting For Miracles’, but it has been for me the most easy to record because, in a total honest way, I’ve practiced this more hehehe…
It’s an edited version (basically I’ve took off a short ‘atmosphere’ part where there’s no drums, just to save a little time) and my drumming is slightly different from the album version, indeed it has more my live approach to it. Enjoy!”

Ulterium Records is proud to announce the release of “And the Rest Is Mystery,” another all-star charity track for sale under the Project Aegis name, with 100% of the income going to Legacy Music, a nonprofit organization that provides music lessons and instruments to children and teens from difficult backgrounds. Some of their students are foster youth, and others have been rescued from human trafficking.
“And the Rest Is Mystery,” which is over nine minutes in length, was composed by Theocracy songwriter and vocalist Matt Smith, and features vocals by Neal Morse (Neal Morse band, Transatlantic, Flying Colors, ex-Spock’s Beard), Daniel Heiman (Dimhav, ex-Lost Horizon, Heed, Harmony, Crystal Eyes), Leah McHenry (LEAH) and Smith, as well as instrumental support from Smith’s Theocracy bandmates Ernie Topran and Val Allen Wood. The artwork was created by Markus Sigfridsson (Darkwater, Harmony, All Things Fallen).
Project Aegis previously released the charity singles “Collide and Spark” (2013), proceeds from which went to feed the homeless in the Nashville, Tenn., area of the U.S., and “Angel In the Ashes” (2016), proceeds from which went to feed and clothe homeless and refugee families in Greece.
