English Dark Progressive Rock band BIRDEATSBABY releases its third single “Box Of Razorblades” taken from the album “The World Conspires”.
Vocalist Mishkin Fitzgerald experiences in the song an all too familiar emotional world of depression, self-harm, alcoholism and bipolar disorder. “Box Of Razorblades” is an ode to hopelessness to which director Scott Chalmers (Devin Townsend, Fear Factory, 69 Eyes) together with award-winning visual effects artist Oliver Hollingdale (Avengers, Insurgent, Fast And The Furious 7) has produced a furious music video with impressive camera flights, grotesque landscapes as well as dramatic acting sequences including a voodoo ritual. Great feelings, energy, melancholic soft melodies. BIRDEATSBABY, from Brighton, are a special ensemble that has been delivering the great inner cinema since 2009. The name of the Dark Progressive Rock band was literally dreamt up while sleeping, bandleader and multi-instrumentalist Mishkin Fitzgerald and her fellow bandmates walk on paths far away from the uniform mainstream. “The World Conspires” is the fifth album and at the same time the beginning of a new phase in the musical development of BIRDEATSBABY, touching the spheres of modern Prog Metal for the first time. Reaching into these new avenues of creative inspiration, the English band fuses its genre of Dark Cabaret with harder progressive sounds without neglecting its roots. When they met during their studies at Brighton University, BIRDEATSBABY’s flame-haired vocalist Mishkin Fitzgerald and guitarist Garry Mitchell formed a thriving musical partnership with a mutual love of dark and progressive music. After a few line-up changes the band has been completed with Anna Mylee on drums and Hana Maria on violin, cello and harp. Starting out in the Punk Cabaret scene, the sound progressed into an atmospheric, melancholic Prog Rock with Steampunk fragments, which excites with classical orchestral layers, bold guitars and intricate arrangements. The band has amassed a cult-like following across the world, aptly called ‘The Flock’, and has been able to successfully crowd-fund each of their releases. Additionally, they landed support slots with The Courtesans, the German Gothic icons ASP and played hundreds of shows in the UK, Europe, the United States and also Mexico. With their new studio album “The World Conspires” BIRDEATSBABY have now returned with a soundtrack for the soulful, haunting, riotous celebration of life in all its facets. The album leads the listener on a roller coaster ride of drama and conflicting emotions. From the rich, orchestral and fragile album opener “Hold Your Breath”, a mantra for anyone who has gone through trauma, it continues with the mystical “Painkiller”, as well as the title song and its overwhelming ode to love, on to “Lady Grey”, which elegiacally and captivatingly walks through the shadows, before the musicians slow down with “How Do I” and let Mishkin’s sensitive voice float over soft piano sounds, accompanied by strings. The tragic “Box Of Razorblades” continues atmospherically until the last act is introduced with the extraordinary “Dido’s Lament” along with brilliant guest vocals by Feline Lang (Feline & Strange). In “Kill No One” the punk attitude of earlier days flashes up again before the last curtain falls with the spherical “Look Away”.

US Progressive Metal pioneers and innovators PSYCHOTIC WALTZ will soon release their 5th studio album, “The God-Shaped Void”, worldwide on February 14th, 2020. Written and recorded with their full original line-up, “The God-Shaped Void”, showcases the first new PSYCHOTIC WALTZ music in 23 years and will be the band’s debut release for InsideOutMusic.

PSYCHOTIC WALTZ guitarist Dan Rock says of the song: “This started out from an old acoustic guitar riff I had back in the ‘90s before we broke up. Oddly, there is no acoustic guitar in it at all! It became the heavy verse riff. This song took a while to find the right notes for the lead and the proper groove for the drums. Early versions of this song make us cringe, so persistence obviously pays off, as it is one of our favorites from the album now.”
And PSYCHOTIC WALTZ say of the video: “For the first video we trusted visual artist Costin Chioreanu to come up with something fittingly dark, dystopian, abstract and trippy. And he really outdid himself! Besides, an animated video is a lot better than looking at a bunch of middle-aged guys rocking out in an empty warehouse.”

The basic tracks for “The God-Shaped Void” were recorded with engineer Ulrich Wild in the band’s hometown of San Diego, then the rest of the recordings at Studio D in Austria and finally the material was mixed/mastered by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Devin Townsend, Fates Warning) at Fascination Street Studios in Sweden. Artwork, as to be seen above, was created by longtime visual partner Travis Smith (Katatonia, Riverside, Nevermore).

Besides releasing a new single, Transport Aerian has also assembled a new live band. The live line up features contemporary composer and pianist Umut Eldem, Gent’s young and gifted drummer Paul De Smet, and Transport Aerian’s long term partner, experimental guitar player Stefan Boeykens.
When a discussion arises on who the current heavyweights of the melodic hard rock scene are, the list of names being bantered about cannot avoid a mention of Harem Scarem. And certainly for good reason. After a five year hiatus, in 2013 the band reunited to re-record from scratch their milestone release “Mood Swings.” Since then, Harem Scarem have consistently released high quality studio albums, with “Thirteen” and “United” being shining examples of the band showcasing their amazing trademark sound. At the same time, these albums offered a stylistic progression which makes Harem Scarem a band to point to for the evolution of the genre.
The new record, “Change The World” is a logical next step for Harem Scarem. While it isn’t a million miles from where “United” left off, it still shows a band at the top of their game. A cohesive unit still able to deliver a power-rock-packed punch, swaggering riffs, and hooks to die for. Harry Hess and Pete Lesperance without a doubt show the world that their partnership still works.
“We really only have one goal when we start working on a record and that is to try and write the best songs we can,” says Pete Lesperance, “In the beginning, Harry and I work individually on parts and than bring them together to see if we have a good starting point for some songs. I think we’ve finally found our stride (I should hope so after 30 years of being a band) and we just try to keep ourselves happy musically, but deliver something that we feel the fans will like!”
With the addition of Mike Vassos on bass, Harem Scarem are returning and ready to dominate.
