Sacramento, CA — November 6th, 2019 — Sacramento based progressive metal project LUNARare back with a new single from the sophomore studio album Eidolon, out on November 8th via Divebomb Records. Premiering today is animated video for “Comfort” which features guest appearance by Haken’s Richard Henshall, who plays an enticing guitar solo. Watch the video on YouTube
Alex Bosson, drummer and founder of LUNAR, commented:
“I’m very excited to get to debut the song ‘Comfort’ from the new album. Already, this early on, it seems to be a fan favorite. I think it has a good diversity with some aspects of pop, rock and, of course, metal and I think it turned out really well. Plus getting to have a guest solo by Rich Henshall of HAKEN is a big honor for me. The video was done by Miles Skarin of CRYSTAL SPOTLIGHT and he did such a phenomenal job! I hope everyone out there enjoys the song and the video as much as I do!”
LUNAR has been around since 2013. Bosson and guitarist/singer Ryan Erwin’s goal to create the genre-defiant music resulted in releases of a debut EP Provenance(2014) and a full-length album Theogony(2017).
In the Spring of 2018, Erwin unexpectedly passed away, but Bosson decided to continue on the project using this tragedy as an inspiration. The resulting release, Eidolon, is a concept album based around the cycle of life and death, and the stages of grief endured by those left behind.
The core line-up besides Bosson features bassist Ryan Price and singer Chandler Mogel, who previously appeared on Theogony, in addition to NovaReign’s guitarist Balmore Lemus. Eidolonalso includes guest contributions from members of Leprous, Haken, Caligula’s Horse, Fallujah, Thank You Scientist, among others.

The upcoming first solo album by Fates Warning vocalist Ray Alder “What The Water Wants” will be released worldwide on October 18th, 2019.via InsideOutMusic.
Today marks the release of the album’s second single “Crown Of Thorns”. You can check it out in a video clip directed by Manuel Giménez / MG Media Productions here:
Ray Alder checked in with the following comment about the song; “In doing a solo album I wanted to try and write songs that I wouldn’t normally do with Fates Warning. I wanted to show a different side of what I’m about vocally. This song “Crown Of Thorns” to me is sort of an homage to the 70’s singers and bands I Iistened to while growing up, where a lot of the focus was on the melody. From the very beginning I found this song super interesting because of the bass line that repeats throughout the entire song. Everything is written around it, so that the melody of the vocals has to flow around it as well. This is one of my favorite tracks from the solo album, and not just because it is so different.”
Ray Alder’s “What The Water Wants” album includes 10 melodic and versatile songs created with assistance from guitarists Mike Abdow (Fates Warning touring member) and Tony Hernando (Lords Of Black) as well as drummer Craig Anderson (Ignite, Crescent Shield). The album was mixed by Simone Mularoni (Rhapsody, Michael Romeo, DGM).
RAY ALDER – “What The Water Wants” 1. Lost 2. Crown Of Thorns 3. Some Days 4. Shine 5. Under Dark Skies 6. A Beautiful Lie 7. The Road 8. Wait 9. What The Water Wanted 10. The Killing Floor 11. The Road (Acoustic Version) * Bonus Track
Ray Alder’s “What The Water Wants” will be available as limited first-pressing Digipak CD with a bonus track (An acoustic version of “The Road”) and as LP on 180gr. vinyl with the full album on CD as bonus.

Story of surrender. Day 1, I thought we had the “perfect” vocal after comping. The next day, after singing passionately for 5 hours, the producer said to me to sing one last take. I said “sure” to humor him, though thinking “there’s no way we can use it, I’m too tired.” So I let go, stood there singing effortlessly, easily, naturally, without trying. I got out of my own way, allowing the song to speak, my soul to speak. When I opened my eyes, thinking everyone would say it’s a throwaway vocal, instead they said “that was a Grammy-Award winning performance!” Stunned, I listened back, and realized magic had flowed, when I surrendered, letting go of getting an “amazing vocal.” This live vocal became our final vocal. I learned sometimes “magic” is better than “perfect.” I trust the magic now.

I genuinely hope you enjoy “Born to Love.” “We were born of the stars, we were born of dust. Honey you and I, we were born to love.”
