We’re proud to share with you the third live video from our concert at One-2-One Bar on 06/16/19. This is our performance of “High Tide” from our first album, “Lonely Hills.”
PATTERN-SEEKING ANIMALS is the brand new group featuring the talents of current & former Spock’s Beard members Ted Leonard (lead vocals & guitar), Jimmy Keegan (drums & vocals) and Dave Meros (bass) as well as long-time contributing songwriter-keyboardist John Boegehold who also produced the album.
The band’s eponymously titled debut album was released via InsideOutMusic in July 2019 and now releases a lyric video for the album’s closing epic ‘Stars Along the Way’. The clip, created by Stan Ausmus at JuzMaintain Productions, can be viewed here:
John Boegehold comments: “Dave and I wrote this a while back from the viewpoint of a guy feeling sorry for his lot in life. I love the bass tone he came up with and Ted’s guitar tone is classic 70s. Is voodoo-swamp prog a genre?”
John Boegehold has the following to say about this track: “So, let me get this straight. You’re saying that a song that’s more than ten minutes long with inscrutable lyrics, multiple key, time and tempo changes, mellotron and fretless bass with several guitar and synth solos doesn’t stand a chance of toppling Taylor Swift and BTS from the top of worldwide pop charts? Not sure I like your negative attitude, mister.”
Today, Norwegian Rock outfit LEPROUS are launching the first single, “Below”, off their sixth and most ambitious studio album ‘Pitfalls’, which is to be released on October 25th, 2019 worldwide via InsideOutMusic.
Check out “Below” in an intense video directed by Dariusz Szermanowicz / Grupa13 (Behemoth, Kreator, Amon Amarth) and filmed in Wroclaw, Poland
LEPROUS vocalist and keyboardist Einar Solberg checked in with the following comment about “Below”: “Below” was the first song written for the “Pitfalls” album and it was composed in a period of denial of what was to come. It was a very spontaneous song, made first with only piano and vocals. “Below” is a very emotional and melancholic track, and it means a lot to me personally – both musically and lyrically. Large cinematic string arrangements, electronic elements, very acoustic and organic parts – all combined. Very epic but at the same time very fragile!”
“Pitfalls” was once again recorded with David Castillo at Ghostward Studios (Opeth, Katatonia), but this time mixed by Adam Noble (Placebo, Biffy Clyro, Nothing But Thieves, Deaf Havana). The cover artwork is a painting from Indonesian artist Elicia Edijanto. The album’s regular track-listing reads as follows:
LEPROUS – “Pitfalls” Track-listing: 1. Below 2. I Lose Hope 3. Observe The Train 4. By My Throne 5. Alleviate 6. At The Bottom 7. Distant Bells 8. Foreigner 9. The Sky Is Red
“Pitfalls” will be available as limited Mediabook CD with two bonus tracks (“Golden Prayers” and the Massive Attack cover “Angel”), as Standard Jewelcase CD and as Gatefold 2LP on 180gr. vinyl with the album on CD as bonus (in Europe!) and an Etching on the D-Side. Flying Colors soar to even loftier heights with Third Degree, their third studio album in a decade. With Third Degree, Flying Colors continue to fire on all cylinders – and, in the process, they also handily prove the third time’s an unquestionable sonic charm.

Bryan Beller, bassist for The Aristocrats, Joe Satriani and Dethklok, has released a new single ‘Volunteer State’, taken from his upcoming solo work Scenes From The Flood.‘Volunteer State’ features world renowned virtuoso Joe Satriani on guitar and Joe Travers [Zappa plays Zappa, Joe Satriani, Duran Duran] on drums.
The hugely ambitious and unapologetically progressive double concept album Scenes From The Floodis scheduled for worldwide release on September 13, and available for pre-order now at http://bryanbeller.com.
“This is the first full song of the album, and this is essentially where the story begins,” says Beller. “It’s an optimistic road-trip song. It’s filled with intention and desire for something positive, though as you get further into it, it does a bit of a twist on you.”
Beller continues: “Once I wrote it, and heard the melody and felt the vibe, I felt strongly and deeply that Joe Satriani could bring something special to it, something uniquely his, that would give ‘Volunteer State’ the weight it needed to be the opening chapter of such a long and winding tale.” Not content with simply contributing the lead melody and solo, the guitar legend took two months to build a complete arrangement around Beller’s song, including additional harmonies, acoustic guitars, a banjo, and several other sonic layers. “And Joe Travers is the perfect drummer for a heavy, straight-ahead rock groove like this.”
The accompanying live action dramatic video (shot, directed and edited by Jon Luini and Arthur Rosato) stars Beller himself and follows the musician as he packs up his old life and heads across the country into the unknown. Eagle-eyed fans will be able to spot several motifs and references to other parts of the album throughout the nearly 6-minute running length.
Scenes From The Flood
A work so sweeping in scale that it took Bellernearly a decade to conceive, compose, and now fully realize, Scenes From The Flood grapples with an existential question: When the storm comes for us, the big one after which things will not be the same, who are we and what do we become in those defining moments? What do we keep, and what do we let go? Scenes From The Flood features 26 world class musicians, exploring themes of ambition and loss, intentionality and reality, hope and disillusionment, and uses every second of its 18-song, 88-minute running order to tell an emotionally consuming and unforgettable musical story.
All studio and live releases from Bryan Beller can be purchased at: http://bryanbeller.com

LEPROUS vocalist and keyboardist Einar Solberg checked in with the following comment about the upcoming album: “We’re incredibly proud to announce “Pitfalls”! It’s the album no-one is expecting from Leprous. When you think you know where it’s headed, you’ll realize that you’re wrong. It’s not only by far the biggest production and musical departure we’ve done, but the also most personal and honest. The album has been written through one of my toughest years, where I struggled with depression and anxiety. No filters, no metaphors, just the truth. They say that writing music is therapeutic. but I would say that it’s an understatement. For me “Pitfalls” is the result of 1,5 years of learning how to get through the dark tunnel. The music has been my torch.”
And here is a video trailer by LEPROUS speaking about their acclaimed previous album “Malina” in retrospect and in light of the upcoming release:
