RoSFest Adds Two More Bands To The 2022 Line-up

California-based, Pattern-Seeking Animals, featuring Ted Leonard, Jimmy Keegan, Dave Meros, and John Boegehold, and art-pop trio, Arc Iris, are the latest additions to the festival’s 2022 Easter line-up.

Both acts had originally been billed to play at the canceled 2020 edition of RoSFest;  “we know the care and enthusiasm for great live music that George Roldan [festival founder and former director] always put into his line-up choices, so it made sense to try and pick up directly from where he left off and rebook bands who should have played at the Sarasota Opera house back in 2020 but lost out due to the pandemic”, says Board of Director member, Octavia Brown, “something already seen when we announced Lobate Scarp earlier this year”.

P-SA’s appearance at RoSFest is set to be just one in a series of live shows planned (and the first since the band got together in 2018) to support the release of their as yet untitled third studio album. It also represents a second festival performance for Jimmy Keegan, already part of the festival line-up as drummer with Robert Berry’s 3.2.

Pattern-Seeking Animals, the California-based prog band featuring Ted Leonard (lead vocals & guitars), Jimmy Keegan (drums & vocals), Dave Meros (bass), and John Boegehold (keyboards), has been around for less than three years but has already released two well-received albums: the eponymous debut album in 2019 and “Prehensile Tales” in 2020, both on Inside Out Music.

As John explains, “Originally P-SA was intended to be a recording project but as the debut album started coming together, we began talking seriously about doing it as a live band”.

“This music would be a challenge for a four-piece band to pull off live,” says drummer, Jimmy Keegan, “so we’ve enlisted two additional multi-talented musicians to cover all the bases”.

They’re as yet-to-be-titled third album is slated for an early 2022 release and will be supported by the band’s first live shows, including an appearance at RoSFest on Sunday, April 17th.

Arc Iris, on the other hand, will be bringing their own very unique flavor to the festival.  Originally the solo project of Jocie Adams, their heavily textured melodies and rhythms will, without doubt, captivate the RoSFest audience.

Arc Iris, the art-pop trio from Los Angeles, successfully combines story-based songs with dense electronic and orchestral arrangements. The group, which started out as the solo project of Jocie Adams (formerly of The Low Anthem) includes keyboardist, sample artist, and frequent Jon Anderson collaborator, Zach Tenorio-Miller, and drummer, Ray Belli.

Arc Iris released its acclaimed self-titled debut in 2014 on ANTI/Bella Union and followed it up in 2016 with “Moon Saloon”, a record that represents a natural progression of the first album’s whimsical explorations and energetic diversity. Produced by the group and mixed by electronic producer David Wrench of FKA Twigs and Jamie xx fame, “Moon Saloon” showcases beat-heavy melodies and textural, groove-riding rhythms. Following the release of their second album, the band toured a complete re-imagination of Joni Mitchell’s ‘Blue’. The band later went on to release their cover version of the classic 1971 album under the name of “Foggy Lullaby” in 2018, a year which also saw the release of their fourth album, “Icon of Ego”. Shortly before the pandemic, the band premiered its most ambitious project to date, “iTMRW: A Sci-Fi Ballet”.

ROBERT BERRY’S 3.2 MAKES IT FOUR FOR ROSFEST 2022

After already announcing three bands for their 2022 line-up (King’s X, Lobate Scarp, and Ten Jinn, for any of you who may have missed previous announcements), RoSFest has added another name to the bill: Robert Berry’s 3.2. This new addition seems to suggest that the new Board of Directors is definitely out to make quite an impression in its mission to steer the Rites Of Spring Festival forward into the future.

Guitarist, vocalist, and record producer, Robert Berry, released the album The Rules Have Changed under the name of 3.2 in 2018. Initially, a project embarked upon with Keith Emerson as a follow-up to the 1988 album To The Power Of Three by 3, Berry was, alas, left to complete the album on his own following Emerson’s death in 2016.

The recent 2021 release, Third Impression, albeit considered more of a solo album, ends quite fittingly, with the superb track, Never, the last song Berry wrote with Keith Emerson, a touching tribute to one of the world’s finest keyboard players.

The 3.2 live line-up features Robert Berry on bass and lead vocals, Paul Keller on guitars, Andrew Colyer on keyboards, and Jimmy Keegan on drums.

Marillion The Light At the End of The Tunnel Tour Dates & Competition

25th August 2021: Marillion will bring their The Light At The End Of The Tunnel tour to the stages of Britain with a 10-date tour in November culminating in 2 nights at the London Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith.
Steve Hogarth says: “No, it isn’t a train coming the other way, it is in fact, The Light at the End of the Tunnel. We spent our time IN the tunnel writing our twentieth studio album.

We will tour in the UK in November and debut one or two new tracks, along with what we feel is the best of our (let’s face it) huge catalogue.

Our fans are legendary creatures of faith and enthusiasm – some say obsession – so we can’t wait for that feeling of reunification as we return from the wilderness, to the stage. The light is gonna feel good.”

Marillion are running a competition on their website (www.marillion.com) from Tuesday 31st August until Friday 3rd September for someone to win tickets to the whole ‘Light At The End of The Tunnel’ UK Tour.  The band will be first revealing the initials of the new album and asking fans to guess the title before revealing it on Friday 3rd September.

The Light At The End Of The Tunnel tour dates for November 2021

Steve Hogarth – lead vocals, lyrics, keyboards, percussion, Steve Rothery – electric guitars, acoustic guitars, Pete Trewavas – Bass, Guitar, Backing Vocals, , Mark Kelly – keyboards, and Ian Mosley – drums, percussion.

For many years Marillion have enjoyed a unique relationship with their fans. In the late 1990s Marillion’s US fans sponsored an entire US tour following an appeal and the band responded by creating the very first rock ‘n’ roll website in the UK, changing the musical landscape. The support of Marillion’s passionate fans enabled them to bypass music industry convention and take control of their own future. Away from record company pressure, Marillion launched its own record label and enjoyed the freedom to produce some of the finest music of its career.

In 2001 Marillion asked fans to pre-order their next album a full 12 months before release. Incredibly 12,000 people signed up to finance the recording, and launch of the album

Anoraknophobia. Marillion thereby INVENTED crowdfunding as a business model, returning the fans faith with a specially packaged CD with each subscriber’s name included in the list of ‘thanks.

The 2016 studio album F*** Everyone And Run (FEAR) was Marillion’s most successful for over 20 years reaching number 4 in the UK chart and was followed, in 2018, by their first ever concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall, a show that sold out in just 4 minutes. Marillion returned to the RAH with their ‘With Friends From The Orchestra Tour ‘for 2 more sold out shows in November 2019.

This relationship with their family of fans has continued to grow and their hugely popular biennial conventions provide a marvellous opportunity for the band and fans to meet. With a catalogue of 18 albums, not only has Marillion’s music continued to progress and change with the times, but the band have led the way, adapting to the changing world around them while the loyalty of their fans remains undiminished.

Natalia is a Russian Everywoman, constantly thwarted by a series of oppressive regimes.”

Hot on the heels of his classical-acoustic travelogue Under A Mediterranean Sky, which was released in January and hit Number 2 in the UK Classical Album Chart, Surrender of Silence is a further exploration of Hackett’s love of world music, discovering different sounds, moods and textures to deliver a rock album of extraordinary variety, power and beauty.
As with Under A Mediterranean Sky, Surrender of Silence was also recorded during Lockdown and, again, Hackett has called upon some of his musical friends from across the world to contribute. Hackett’s regular touring band of Roger King (keyboards, programming and orchestral arrangements), Rob Townsend (sax, clarinet), Jonas Reingold (bass), Nad Sylvan (vocals) and Craig Blundell (drums) are supplemented by Phil Ehart and Nick D’Virgilio (drums), the vocal talents of Amanda Lehmann, Durga and Lorelei McBroom, Christine Townsend (violin, viola), Malik Mansurov (tar) and Sodirkhon Ubaidulloev (dutar).
This new album is full-on electric…
“Lockdown cobwebs are blown away in one fell-swoop here!” says Steve Hackett. “With the monster rhythm section of Jonas, Craig, Nick and Phil along with Rob’s soaring sax and bass clarinet, Nad, Amanda and myself on vocals, Roger’s darkly powerful organ and my guitar, we plunge full-pelt into that wild release of energy.”
Our journey takes us from the classical orchestrations of Russia (Natalia) to the plains of Africa (Wingbeats) to mysterious Eastern shores (Shanghai To Samarkand), all via the ocean’s depths (Relaxation Music for Sharks (featuring feeding frenzy)). The Devil’s Cathedral pools the talents of Hackett’s entire touring band and features King’s atmospheric Gothic organ and a powerhouse rhythm display from Blundell and Reingold.
Hackett’s vocals have never been bettered and his duet with Amanda Lehmann adds emotion to Scorched Earth a lament for the environmental horrors facing our planet. Throughout Hackett’s guitars add a rich tapestry of colour with soaring solos and intricate weaving melodies.
“It’s a ‘no holds barred’ album,” adds Hackett, “riding that wave, unleashing those demons, dreams and nightmares, all crashing together over the shore.
“I enjoyed the power of this album allowing my guitar to scream in joy and rage… and once again flying across those oceans to distant lands. It’s terrific to connect creatively with musicians from far flung places, particularly when we’ve all been unable to meet. We all have a voice in our cacophony of sound and we cry out together in the Surrender of Silence!”

Steve Hackett “Surrender of Silence” track listing:1. The Obliterati (02:17)2. Natalia (06:17)3. Relaxation Music For Sharks (Featuring Feeding Frenzy) (04:36)4. Wingbeats (05:20)5. The Devil’s Cathedral (06:31)6. Held In The Shadows (06:20)7. Shanghai To Samarkand (08:27)8. Fox’s Tango (04:21)9. Day Of The Dead (06:25)10. Scorched Earth (06:03)11. Esperanza (01:04)
Steve Hackett shares writing credits with both Jo Hackett and Roger King on several tracks. All tracks were recorded by Roger King and produced by Steve Hackett with Roger King at Siren.

About Steve Hackett
Steve Hackett joined Genesis at the beginning of 1971 and gained an international reputation as the guitarist in the band’s classic line-up alongside Peter Gabriel, Tony Banks, Mike Rutherford and Phil Collins. Hackett’s intricate guitar work was a key element of Genesis’ albums from Nursery Cryme (1971) to Wind And Wuthering (1977) including the classic Selling England By The Pound.
After leaving Genesis at the end of 1977, Hackett’s solo career, which now spans more than 30 albums, has demonstrated his extraordinary versatility with both electric and acoustic guitar. Hackett is renowned as both an immensely talented and innovative rock musician and a virtuoso classical guitarist and composer and this was recognised in 2010 when he was inducted into the Rock Hall Of Fame. He has also worked alongside Steve Howe of YES in the supergroup GTR.
Hackett’s compositions take influences from many genres, including jazz, classical and blues. For his later studio works The Night Siren (2017) and At The Edge Of Light (2019) Hackett has explored the influences of world music. Recent tours have seen Hackett celebrate his time with Genesisincluding a spectacular 2018 tour in which he realised a long-held ambition to perform the works of Genesis live with his band and an orchestra.
The lockdown enforced by the 2020 global pandemic has proven to be a particularly creative period for Hackett. He began by releasing Selling England by the Pound & Spectral Mornings: Live at Hammersmith, a live recording of 2019’s hugely successful tour celebrating that Genesis classic together with the 40th anniversary of one of his most-loved solo albums. Lockdown also gave Hackett the opportunity to write and record two new studio albums, the UK Classical Chart hit Under A Mediterranean Sky and the forthcoming Surrender of Silence.
